. Rinsed and shampooed using Shea Moisture Organic African Black Soap Deep Cleansing Shampoo and conditoned with SM Balancing conditioner. I then used a little Aphogee 2 min reconstructor. I put on a few spays of Infusium 23 and then sealed with CRISCO. I allowed my hair to air dry in twists to about 60%.

I then blowdried using Garnier Fructis Blow Dry Perfector and then used the Flat Iron Perfector for straightening on a temp of about 350 degrees.

The Blowout.

During the Flat Iron.

Straighter than it's ever been as a natural. Almost APL.

Bumped in a few curls.

And this is after a trim. The stylist did a great job and didn't take off too much.

This is almost 3 years of natural hair growth. I stopped relaxing back in March 2009 and BC'd in April 2010. I am very pleased with my growth and retention. I'm sure my flat ironing will get even better as I do them more. Thanks for viewing.

You did a good job and your hair looks lovely . But I must warn you, there have been horrible reviews regarding the Garnier Fructis blow-dry kit.

Really? What was the negative feedback about it?? I had a decent experience even though I don't have a lot to compare it with.

Thanks for the update! My last relaxer was Mar '09 and I BC'd that August. Your attitude is so positive. :yep: I've been such a sourpuss about my progress this year. Keep up the good work and thanks for the encouragement!!!

You soooo remind me of Vivica Fox (pre surgery.) Excellent progress!

I need to post pics but I'm lazy and afraid that I will be LIVID when I flat iron muh grass lol.

I haven't done my first flatiron yet since I've been natural. But now that I've seen you do it...Now I want to! It looks good!

I thought it was different from the products @StephElise used.

Yeah I didn't use that system.

:poke::poke:Do it Gurl. Don't be scurred!! And post pics!

Beautiful. You look like Angela Basset in that 5th pic.
Thank you. Um, yeah I've heard that one too just not as often as the Vivica one.

I love Garnier Fructis Blow Dry Perfector Strengthening Balm! makes my hair feel so soft and calm after blow drying. The blow dry perfector strengthening balm is totally different from that disastrous kit.

Your hair looks great OP :yep:! How would you rate the Garnier Fructis products you use? Did you get any swang with it too?

IndifinableJoli Yes, my siggy is Chaka Khan back in the 70s. My 'new' hair inspiration. lol

StephElise I also see the Angela Bassett moreso than pre-surgery Vivica. I think it's the look of peace and sophistication. You are so beautiful! I also find it hard to believe that you're anywhere near 40.

20Something You know I actually did get some swang. It was not weighed down at all and that was after using Crisco to seal. I think the products are great!

lovely! your hair looks so healthy and gorgeous. great progress on length + thickness, lady!

andromdea The thickness is what I am most impressed with because my hair has ALWAYS been bone straight relaxed which made it appear and me believe that I had thin hair. I still believe that btw along with having thin strands, but it is much fuller looking and it had my mom's mouth open in awe.

In what la-la land, are you forty??? You look so young! Wowza!

Harina Thanks lady. There are quite of few of us on here that can pass for younger than 40 actually.:yep:

StephElise

Steppphh!!! I could have sworn I responded to this yesterday! Anywho
Wow you've come a long way!
Weird we both straighten and trim our hair the same week....weirder were about the same length!

Keep it up lady!!

Beautiful hair! I want to flat iron too, but I will wait until somewhere around 2 years post BC. Your are inspiring me to take the plunge sooner.

Wonderful progress!
