When you ladies have you hair straight and then it rains and starts to poof what do you room to make it go back nice and straight? I was looking for a thread on this but didn't find it. I'm relaxed too

I am interested in responses to this as well because I have hair that likes to poof too.

Recently, I've been using a rinse out, moisturizing conditioner instead of a leave in and using minimal product on my hair--I used to use practically a whole jar of product on my hair at one time, lol. I'm not sure exactly what did it, but now my hair hardly poofs at all and swings.

Someone recommended Frizz-Ease as well, but I haven't tried it yet because my hair seems to be much tamer now.

Is your hair relaxed straight or is there texture in it? I have texture in mine. When I straighten, I use One N' Only Argan oil serum. That makes humidity induced puffiness kick rocks. I don't use any other water based product on my hair in between wash days. My hair stays straight until I wash it again. The only reversion I get is at my roots when I work out. But, I use a cotton headband to keep it minimal.

Well this week I first DC'd with heat and a plastic cap with AO HSR
Washed with QP Shampoo for Relaxed Hair
Aphogee 2 min on my hair for like 5 minutes (JUST A QUARTER AMOUNT )
Leave in: Hawaiian Silky 14n1, Sedu Anti'Frizz w/ Argan oil and Creme of Nature with Argan oil leave in spray

Airdryed

Flat ironed the next day using Chi Silk infusion.
Curled
Wrap

That's too much product, imo. You don't need all of that. Silicones aren't going anywhere when you put it on your hair. I also would not end my wash with a protein. If you even need it, follow it with a moisturizing conditioner.

I don't even use leave in. But, I know that's frowned upon around here. After I towel dry, I add a wrap foam and sit under the dryer. Then I add my serum and blow dry to smooth and then flat iron. That's it.

@Your Cheesiness

Thank you.
So when I do use the protein always use an moisturizing conditioner afterwards.

And eliminate too much silicone for leave ins

If it's just in the front, then that might indicate it's mechanical, or something you're doing (tension hairstyles, combs, brushes, etc.) I'm not sure. I remember when I used protein regularly, my breakage subsided, but my flat ironing was not the business.

Your Cheeziness

Thanks I just brought some magnetic rollers today. I will try roller setting too. I am trying to eliminate tension. I honestly dont know what my hair likes or dislikes...

Memoirs from a naive newbie :lachen:

Some days there is no stopping the poofyness, I am not relaxed though. I'll usually just touch up with the flat iron. I've noticed that with rollersetting my hair retains more moisture which leads to less reversion. What you can try heat free is to apply a bit of serum or oil to the frizziness, make a bun or ponytail and then take a silk or satin scarf ( I only use charmeuse silk) and tie it around your head firmly making sure your roots are getting a good gentle pull. Leave it on for an hour or more and when you take it off you should find it a good deal smoother...

For me a decorative silk or satin scarf over my pulled back straightened hair. I tie it really cute and glam think old hollywood! :yep:

This is the same inclement weather strategy I used when I was relaxed. I keep a pretty scarf in my bag at all times. Once I reach my destination indoors I remove my scarf and fluff my hair and all is well.

I also agree that less is more with leave-in products.
