Naturals are we "reaching" to claim hair lengths

Why should anyone care if they do that? whatever it takes to keep them motivated, I say go for it. If you think you are making progress regardless of if you are deluding yourself or not, it will keep you working to achieve your goals, but if everything you do shows no result, you may as well just throw in the towel.

I say good for them, whatever lenght you think you've achieved I agree. It is not my place to correct you or dash your dream. Lean back, lean forward, bend your body all the way to the floor for all I care, just do what keeps you positive.

That is exactly why I do not ever comment to that effect. While I am free to think any way I want, I do not exercise such freedoms when verbally. I keep those thoughts to myself. On another note, I think it's only fair for a responder to comment honestly on an issue that a poster has specifically asked about.

this and this and thiiiiiis !!! yeah Curlykale !!!!

also some may put their head too much on back when stretching their hair strand !!!!!!!!!!!!!! sometimes I see some "progress pic" and on some, people's heads are really too much back, and I can't tell a thing or people would say I'm a hater LOL !! :lachen:

Don't worry. Thanks to Lean Back Gate the precedent has already been set.

I understand, but I think some people may ask for the truth, but don't really want to hear it. They can see that they are leaning in the picture. I know we all look at our pictures before we post. We gotta make sure, we're booger free, ash free ect. You cant tell me you didn't see or FEEL that your head wasn't straight when you took the picture. So for me, when I see that, I just know you really don't want my honest opinion and I keep it moving, I refuse to knowingly tear down someone, or hurt anyone's feeling. But I totally understand your point.

Lean Back Gate??! I missed that one. What happened (condensed version)?

If you have layers which length do you claim? My nape is longer than the rest of my hair.

My nape is always longer too. I usually claim where the majority of my hair reaches. I know many folks claim where their longest strand reaches.

IIRC,
Someone started a length check thread where another poster called them out on leaning in her pic. The OP stated that she wasn't leaning. Opposing poster said ,"not even a little?" Mayhem ensued. I think that thread got ethered but the tribute thread that it spawned still exists (it's locked though).

Your straightened hair won't be shorter than your stretched hair. I'm not following that straight hair could be shorter. Your stretched hair still has curls and waves which would make it shorter than hair that has been straightened which has fewer curls and waves.

So if I reach APL stretched (with good posture) it will be APL or longer when I stretch.

Thank you! It makes sense that stretched hair would not be as accurate as bone straight, but it would be shorter so I don't understand OP's concern.

If anyone's reaching its that idea that pulling our hair with your fingers is us trying to make our hair appear longer than what it is.

In order to understand my concern you must read. In the OP I said are "we" as in collectivly since we all pull our hair to see where it falls. I just noticed once we straighten the hair it's shorter than when pulled.

I've straightened my hair a few times and have never had the experience that my straightened hair is not as long as my stretched hair. So since I've not had that experience I left the discussion. I can't say that others don't have that experience. I just don't think it is the most common experience. I think it is more common for the straightened hair to be longer than the stretched especially with tighter curls.
