Has anyone ever delayed getting a touch up until they reached their hair goal?

I am considering not extending my long stretches until I reach my hair goal. I think that minimizing my chemical exposure will help me keep my ends healthier and aid in retention.

(currently I stretch 10 months or so between texlaxing.)

Any thoughts ladies?

OP you arent the only one with thoughts along those lines. I am doing that now. my last relaxer was september 1rst. I am trying to hold out until december with the hopes that the 2 inches (hopefully 2+ with megatek, DC and frequent CO washes) will bring me to grazing bra strap.

I'm doing it partially to dec the amount of relaxers I have in a year but mostly because I want to make my relaxer process worthwhile. (aka - i'm impatient ) I'm getting mightly annoyed with relaxing only to see an inch worth of difference.

Same here... But be very careful. These long stretches can cause setbacks because of the two different textures.

it depends on how long you're stretching to get to that length. 2 months ain't nothing. But if its gonna be 8 months til u reach your goal, then u have to be EXTRA EXTRA careful when handling your hair. You can suffer major breakage with that amount of ng

Nope, I'm averaging around 3 or 4 bonelaxed touchups a year, so I think I'm doing fine with limiting my exposure to the relaxer chemicals.

Like others have stated, you can set yourself up for a major setback if you're not careful. However, there are ladies here who do super long stretches so it can be done.

My stretch has been about 13 weeks so far. I was thinking of trying for 16 weeks but I have a wedding in a humid country so I will be doing about 13 weeks again. I'm semi-PS-ing though to make up for it.

Long stretches can be done if you know how to deal with the two textures. I stretched 6 months with no issues. Right now, I am currently natural , but I sometimes miss the ease of my relaxed hair. If you need assistance, there is a thread that Sylver2 started a few years ago called the Sylver 2 challenge. She stretched her relaxer for a year. Some ladies can't do long stretches, but even waiting an extra week is a great accomplishment. Oil rinsing helped me and bunning.

Thanks ladies for the feedback!

I currently stretch ten months or so. So I feel confident I can do it but does Anyone go longer than that?

I want to hit mbl before I touch up. I think I'm a year or less away IF I can retain every inch.

DDTexlaxed oil rinses....I use olive oil now but the residual is a bit much. What oils do u use?

I'm natural now so my oil mix may be too much. I use a pre poo of vatika frosting and the Dabur Vatika coconut oil mix. My hair just sucks it up. When I was relaxed, this oil rinse version just made all my knots melt. I could smooth my hair so much easier. All I did was bun my hair after my 3rd month post to six months.

Thanks ladies. I'm am going to work with my stylist on a 12 month strategy. Whew......nervous!
