I am currently going natural from a texturizer and it is really encouraging to have so many family members who are also natural. It's mostly all the younger girls but most of my cousins are natural and so is an aunt (locs or loose). Do you have a BHNF(Big Happy Natural Family lol)? How many of your family members are natural?
 
Only my sis in a family of six is not natural. Hubby, our 3 cats and I are natural. Most of my 100 or so cousins are natural. I think only a handful of my relatives are relaxed.

All of the women in my family are natural. It's something anyone thinks or talks about really. They just don't use relaxers.


BTW OP natural hair is much easier to deal with imo. I got a relaxer in h.s. (apl-bsl) and I got one in college (pixie cut) so I think I can speak with some authority :)
If you are a low maintenance girl like me natural hair will be a dream come true.

My mom is newly natural abt 8 months. But shes always teetering on the brink of relaxing so I dont even consider her natural lol.

and Ive got a couple cousins on both sides of my family who are natural (loose and locks)

my kitteh is also natural DWL
 
I don't think any of the women in my family are natural. If some of my cousins ever announced they were going natural, I would probably fall out lol.
 
My Granny, my aunts and my mom are natural. My female cousins refuse to even consider it Smh
 
My mom and grandmother are natural. I also have two younger cousins who are also natural. There may be others...I'm not sure of how everyone is wearing their hair underneath their wigs. :lol:
 
I love that Nonie and -PYT said their cats are natural. LOL

My grandma, mother, stepfather, and brother are natural. My mom doesn't wear her hair out, my grandma and stepfather are loc'd, and my brother has a mini fro at the moment.

How could I forget? My cat is natural, too. She's a natural blonde. :lol:

My mom, her sister (my aunt), my two cousins (my aunt's daughters), and my grandmother are natural. My sister and my niece are transitioning back to natural.
 
I wish! It's just little ol' me that's natural in my family.

We run the gamut in my family - relaxed, pressed, wigs, weaves, braids, fros, twists and locs - oh and jeri curls. And some of us have tried all or most of the options. I appreciate that hair is not controversial in my family.
 
3 cousins and 2 aunts are natural, and they all wear twas. My mom is transitioning. She had her last relaxer in March. She plans to wear her natural hair straight.

Tiye that is why I :rolleyes: at people that have smart remarks about relaxed hair. Hair is so versatile and a self expression. Why should one hair process hold so much infamy?

My mother is natural, has been since I can remember. I just turned natural a year ago, my sister and my close cousin followed right after.
 
My mother is locked - have been for 12 years (formerly relaxed briefly though I never relaxed) and keeps it in a short bob. I have a aunt who's natural too. At one time her hair was to her waist.
 
Everyone in my household is natural. My mom just big chopped, one of my sisters is natural and the other is transitioning. MIL, SIL and a few aunt-in-laws are also natural. :yep:
 
I have a lot now and I am so proud of myself for shedding the natural light on my whole family and leading the way.

My aunt has been natural for 11 years but no one paid it any attention I didn't even realized she was natural until the thanksgiving after I bc'ed. When I saw her twist I went crazy and that got the ball rolling. My aunt did another bc a few months ago she said she was inspired by me to do it again.

My mom has also been natural for a few years but she just keep her hair shaved she started growing it out last year after I bc'ed I now do her hair.

I am also claming three aunts that are now trasitioning one niece that bc'ed two cousins that bc'ed and two cousins that are transitioning all of them gided by my naturally hand.

Sept 24th was my grandmothers b-day we had a nice dinner for her but it ended up turning into a natural hair meet up. My aunt reviled her new bc my mom had fresh lil fro my cousin who bc'ed this summer showed off and out. We were able to convince another aunt to let the perm go then we loaded up three cars and went to whole foods for cherry Lola supplies. That everyone loved it was so much fun but the best part was one of my aunts ( I have 8) who I thought would never consider going natural called me the next day for some hair care advice for one of her church friends she had the lady on three way I ended up sending the lady a few videos blogs and stuff to get her going. That aunt also claims to be trying I don't think she will but I have hope for her.

I wanted to post this after that phone call I felt so proud and i wanted to think the whole natural community for the helping hand that is delightfully bring my family together in a different way.

only like 2 of my cousins (out of like 100 lol) are natural
everyone is relaxed but with long hair
when one of my cousins went natural my grandma almost had a heart attack lol
 
What's funny is that all the people who told me that I needed a perm as a little girl are all natural lol.

Many of my aunts are now natural. I have so many cousins that have also gone natural. I am the white sheep of the family and I am a ride or die relaxed girl!
 
None at the moment and I don't see it happening anytime in the future. I have one cousin who constantly told me I needed a perm when I was younger. Back then I always pressed my hair, this time around I intend on doing no heat styles a lot. I'm not looking forward to seeing her to be honest.
 
My mom and both lil sisters are natural. I convinced 3 cousins to go natural and my lil cousin was natural and is now texturised.
