I Am So Blessed

I'm easy going.
Thinking about going on a Long Term stretch, and if the stretch works out, ill just never put the creamy white in my hair again.

:look:<--almost tempted to poor my heart out on LHCF.

Nothing to offer, I would love to see pictures as well. I'm 8 months into my transition and my bantu knot outs are terrible! I gave up on them after the 4th or 5th month.

LOL I Love/hate it.

See, the thing is, its getting bigger, all the new growth is piling up, so im thinking i should just let it grow like that, but with a style that works for both textures.

By letting the natural hair grow in, am i playing with fire?...Cuz my hair tangles so easy *scared*.

if its getting bigger now.....yea umm. okay.
the only way I keep tangles away is through very patient finger detangling - bit by bit.

don't forget to be super patient, what ever you decide.

(my bantus are a fail too. I always end up putting it in a bun)

AdoraAdora24, there was a thread about getting hair straight w/o heat. I wonder if that could be the preamble to bantu knots? You know, you get the roots straight then do bantu knots.

Also how about Curlformers? Yes, I love me dem t'ings! With natural hair, the ends are usually the problem because when you try to separate the curls, the ends frizz. (But I'm still due to go to the Nonie lab to find a solution!!!! Not given up yet!) So, I'm thinking you could use them to stretch out your roots, and maybe wear curls for a bit, And then since CFs stretch the hair out, you can try do bantu knots and see if the knot out looks better on the now stretched hair.

The reason I think stretched/straight hair will look good is because I saw Poohbear's bantu knot-out and it was darling. Hers was done on blowdried hair, and I think Curlformers give natural hair a look of being stretched kinda like blowdried hair: http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?p=14322261&t#post14322261

Nonie Have your tried grease or castor oil on your ends? I put a little bit of apex on my ends before they go into the curlformer and they don't frizz up when I pull them apart.

I have pics of my fully natural hair in bantu knots and then with it in the resulting curly fro, but not transitioning, back when I was transitioning I didn't know much of anything about styling.

If you wanna see em anyway let me know and I'll post it.

@natural_one, Can you share pics please?

I did an experiment when @yodie and I were discussing ways to improve CF's results. I might have to try it again, but I just remember feeling really grossed out by the "greasiness" of Castor oil. I used it on the length not just ends and on damp hair and then when it set I removed it and tried to separate.

Me-no-likey! :nono:

I'll see if I can find the post where I reported results. And I still wasn't impressed by results. The ends were still fuzzy although much easier to separate than when I did CFs on dry hair.
Here's the post with my results: http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showpost.php?p=11596062&postcount=42

I have pics of bantu knot outs all throughout my fotki when I was transitioning. It seemed after so many months though, I had to switch things up and start doing twistouts.

Nonie, I still have my curlformers and am actively seeking a way to make them last past the first day. I was actually able to get good results on my ends with using foam wrap and putting castor oil on my ends.

I think curlformers are a great way to stretch hair for bantu's. I wonder if adding a silcone (heat protectant) to the ends would help prevent some of the frizzing.

The first picture is about 7 months post

Bantu Knot fro hawk 10 months post

16 months post on flat ironed hair

And for good measure this is what my Bantu knot out looks like now, 9 months natural on flat ironed hair.

Bantu knot outs and twist outs were life savers during my 18 month transition because I love wearing my hair out. HTH!

StephElise, my ends look fine as long as I don't try to separate. Do you have photos of the curls separated?

Nonie, I don't think I took any pics of the curls seperated. But this vid shows how it looked when I seperated them a little.

I didn't want to do it too much so that it wouldn't turn out too frizzy. Even after all that, humidity did it's usual and caused it to puff up by the end of the night

Thanks StephElise, I have never used heat so I wonder if that would make a difference?

So can you run that by me again? What was your full procedure again? Product names please!

Nonie, you are too funny.
I gave up on the curlformers. I just didn't have the patience. Maybe one day.
