What will you do differently now that it is getting cooler?

I woke up with a sore throat this morning and could barely talk after leaving the house the other day in the cool morning air with my WnG, I think this may be the first winter I wear my hair straight to avoid the chances of getting sick.

I've been doing wash and go's since I was 14. I am now 32 years old. I live in NY and have gone out of the house in -3 degree weather with wet hair and steam coming from it because it was so cold. I never got sick. I know many people can list the reasons why it can/will/has made them sick however I truly think it's my belief level that keeps me well. I will continue to do my wash-and-go's. It has been almost 2 years since my BC (2.5.10) but maybe I will start to do ponytail's and whatever other styles I can just for variety. My hair is getting so long that my bangs are past my nose and I have to sweep them to the side.

going to try and braid my hair so that it will last for a month and so that it will fit under my hats with a scarf underneath

I really don't change my regimen with the seasons. I will continue to wear twists, wash twice a week, baggy nightly, wear hats or headwraps during the day on days I don't feel like styling my twists.

I sorta am like Nonie. I don't really do anything different. Braided - so I can workout.:look:

I'm not going to do anything special.

But I am looking forward to not having wet hair in the middle of winter. I BC'd last Dec. and I co-washed almost every morning last winter.

I'll go back to wearing it straight most of the time. I don't like to be bothered with curly or wet hair in the winter. I'll flatiron, wear it straight for two weeks, DC with protein and flatiron again. I've been doing that for two winters already and see no difference with retention vs. wearing it curly.

eta:Oops, reading is fundamental. I'm about 90% natural (all-natural in back, 5 inches of relaxed hair in the front). I've been transitioning for 2 1/2 years.

I will try my best to keep my hair in twists throughout the winter. I'm currently looking for a half wig as a back up just in case I get bored.

i'm going to switch to Qhemet's Alma Heavy Cream as a moisterize and will seal with castor oil. i'll also dc with my steamer more often. i'll continue to wear twists b/c i'm trying to see some good growth through this winter.

I'm not worried about getting sick. I just dont want my hair to freeze! I do wash and gos 90% of the time so I'll be plopping overnight or diffusing to avoid icicle hair.

 yes I remember those days. and now that i'm more hair aware and hair conscience, I wonder if that would cause damage.

I never really change my regimen either. The only thing I plan to do differently is once I get enough hair (I have 2 inches now after getting it shaved in July), I will start twisting it. I figure by December I should have enough. :yep: But I'll still do wash-n-gos, spray it, etc...

I already have my yarn braids in I just love to braid my hair and go low maintenance all the time. However I am about to break out my yarn and get to knitting my hats for the winter hopefully I'll get some cute stuff done before I start seeing stuff on sale and just decide to buy.

-Thicker moisturizer
-Wigs/headwraps
-Increased DCing

However. I do want to try twists and rollersetting before it gets too cold.

I have been wearing wngs basically all summer. I planned on wearing them during the winter, but now I'm having second thoughts. I'm really sick of having wet hair, especially since I just caught a cold. Wearing my hair straight is out of the question because I'm so scared of getting heat damage. Wigs look like hair helmets on me. Due to the length of my hair, buns and other protective styles will require too much manipulation in order for them to look decent. I was thinking about braids, but I know that extra hair on my head will drive me crazy. I'm at a loss.:perplexed

I am very excited about trying twists for the first time! I'm in the process of learning how to flat twist :)

I'll break out the heavier moistruizers (helooooooooo elasta qp!!), pun when it's not flat-ironed, and leave it be!!

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol: EXACTLY!!!

I have NO idea what im gonna do! My hair is already acting weird and starting to become dry...i'm gonna use up my gels tho and start buying creamy moisturizers. I would LOVE to wear twists but my hair in the front won't hold em:nono::sad:

Being that it's Florida...i MAY get away with doing wash n go's during the winter...but i'll most likely use curl creams. I'm under the impression that KCCC is a good gel to use in dry weather...might do that.

My styles might just be braidouts and puffs...OOoo...!!!...i almost forgot...i can bun now too!:yahoo:

I go back to protective styling (usually wigs) 5 out of 7 days of the week and heavy sealing with castor oil (mostly ends and edges).

I wont be changing up too much either. I will continue to keep my hair in twist and I'm thinking about straightening my hair for my bday (small chance).

I'll probably stay weaved up for a while so that I can wear the hats I like without them rubbing up on my real hair. Plus my hair isn't long enough to cover my ears when it's not stretched. When my hair is bigger enough to cover my ears and neck when shrunken I will just rock my fro.

The same thing I've been doing: buns during the week and a wash and go on Friday that lasts until Sunday. Friday is my lazy day so I usually don't leave the house until my hair is dry. On the off chance that I have to, I'll diffuse.

I won't be changing things TOO much this winter.

However, I will say that I've become extremely LAZY with my hair ever since summer time hit. :look: All I've been doing this past summer is wng's & KCCC wng's for the most part. I can count on my hand maybe twice that I even did a twist out!

So, this winter I'm going to go back to twisting it up for a few days, and then wearing twist outs and alternating back and forth with that. I HATE having wet hair in the morning, not so much because I'm afraid of catching a cold, but more so because my pores are open and my scalp feels sooo COLD when I walk out in the winter air w/damp hair. :nono: I'm already always cold to begin with. I don't need wet hair making me EXTRA cold! :nono:
