Hey all. I will be investing in a flat iron in the next few weeks and I need a recommendation. I have had a Chi for years and I love it terribly, but a friends broke it so I need a replacement.
I;ve been looking at the Soila. Has anyone tried it?

I'm researching the FHI Platform, Croc 2 Infrared, and maybe the Sedu. They all have their share of good reviews. I simply want the best ;)

i've owned the solia for the last 3 years. Still love it.
I also have the generic CHI version by Sally's that i adore as well

I love both of my sedu's. It straightens my hair really good w/o going to the highest setting.

Im still thanking God for my Izunami. Shiny, silky hair with no pulling AND the price isnt bad if you get it from amazon.

The solia was my first more expensive flat iron and I HATE IT. It burns my hair. Even at low settings.

I have a cheap conair i purchased from the drugstore and it works way better. I still need a nicer one but the solia was the worst purchase ever.

Based on some great reviews on both BHM.com and Sallys.com I tried the Jilbere de Paris iron,it worked great. For whatever reason I went and bought and FHI platform. I hate that iron. It doesn't do half the job the $25 Jilbere de Paris iron does

I have a Hana Elite and love it. Bought my friend the Hana Pro, she loves it. My friend got a Croc and, so far, it gives similar results to my Hans. I used it after a beach day.

My friend and I have had our Hanas since Feb 2010.

I have owned a chi original, chi turbo, Fhi platform, GHD, Hana elite, Sedu the list goes on and on... And the croc classic flat iron is the best out of all of them. It was $ 99 bucks at ulta. I considered the croc infrared just to compare the difference but this iron straightens my 2 year post no relaxer hair beautifully!! It also stays straight after going out in the Florida humidity.

I am curious about the izunami ... Only because I am a flat iron junkie though :)

^^ This. Its not the most expensive flat iron out there, but I LOVE it. Its always gotten my hair and anybody else hair I flat iron straight with just one pass. Its what I used to flat iron my hair in my siggy picture back in July.

The Hana elite had glass like plates and the grip on my hair was not firm enough. However, the croc classic is like a Marcel iron but ceramic... I have never been this impressed with an iron. I had a CHI and GHD right before this iron and they left my hair somewhat dry... Now I flat iron with the croc and my hair feels super soft and more silky ..

I had a similar experience. I was really impressed with thr Croc, especially for the price. My results looked the same with the Hana Elite/Crockett, but I appreciate the glass-like plates of the Elite. My thin strands probably couldn't handle the Croc over time, but I will get one for traveling. If the OP's hair isn't thin/fragile, I'd suggest the Croc over the Elite. Great results and it's more durable.
