Ok....I was trying to....Then the Energizer Bunny..It happened so fast............!

Calm down fletgee. Breath girl. In. Out. :meditate:

Alright. I decided this morning to do my shampoo/ blow out routine. Fastforward to the blow dry part. I'm sitting in the livingroom chair
and decide after blow drying that I need to cut off about 2 inches of split knotted crunchy ends. I really did not want to cut my hair, so I turned on the TV to distract me. I started in the back and was doing good.

Doing good till I got to the crown of my head. I was holding up the hair getting ready to cut. Then the sound went up on the TV for the Energizer Bunny commercial. I turned my head just as I was cutting. I cut but I felt something cold in my hand. No pain just cold.

I looked at my hand and saw nothing. So I parted the next section of my hair. And as I reached up to hold the section cut it some liquid hit my face.
I wiped it with my hand and saw blood. That cold I felt was my scissors as I cut a 3 inch gash into my palm under my thumb. :eek2: The scissors are so sharp that I never felt the clean cut. It still does not hurt, but I have had to change the dressing twice due to the bleeding. And my palm is starting to turn red and swell.

I don't want to go to the hospital (which is a block away) because once they check my records and find out I have a rare Lymphoma they always freak. And I ain't feeling that today.

Oh no. But if the bleeding isn't slowing down, perhaps you should go in, just to be safe. I know its a hassle but better safe than sorry.

Umm you need to get your tail off of LHCF, hit the streets and get you arse to the hospital stat! You don't want to risk getting an infection :nono:

At least put some ready seal on it, from CVS, rite aid, something.

Sometimes a gash like that needs stitches. Always cut your hair in front of the mirror and never cut it at home if you're unsure....okay?

Go get some stitches ASAP. It might not be bad, but it'll keep bleeding and take forever to heal on its own, plus you'll run the risk on infection.

You should really go regardless of how you feel about it. You can get an infection, you can lose too much blood, etc. It is likely that you'll need stitches because of the size of the cut, please go!

Stop clowning....if you don't want to deal with the drama then go to a med clinic instead of the hospital. Just make sure you go somewhere and have it looked at. Infection is no joke and the location of the cut makes it more difficult to deal with than most cuts already.

I'm sorry but if you didn't feel the slice and it doesn't hurt it usually means...
You NEED stitches, not feeling the cut shows how deep it is in many cases.
I had a slash above my eye and not even 3 inches. I didn't feel it when it happened
but I had to get stitches. That was 12 years ago and I still have the scar.
The faster you get stitches the less you have to worry about a scar

yeah i got a steak knife stab/cut near my palm under my thumb.... it sucked!!!! Doing it didn't hurt, if I hadn't have seen it I wouldn't have known it had happened. My hand had to be glued back together they probably should have stitched it but I was freaking out. my whole hand was swollen for a few weeks and i was on light duty at work... i couldn't use that hand or it would throb and swell more! I hope you took your rings off... because after your hand swells taking rings off is a adventure!

Ugh I really hope you got yourself to some medical service because my jaw dropped reading your post. No one likes dealing with hospital BS but in this case it's very much NECESSARY. please consider the consequences and make the right decision.

About 4 years ago, I sliced my finger open with a pair of scissors. It lacerated a tendon. Even after surgery and therapy, I still can't make a decent fist with my left hand (my index finger doesn't fold down all the way).

PLEASE go to the ER so that they can ensure that the damage is only superficial.

The ladies ^^^ have pretty much said it all, so I'll just go ahead and do this: :bighug: :bighug: for OP. If you're feeling UNWELL, it's better you go and get seen by a doctor- even a family practitioner will do, if you don't want to go to the ER.

I hope you get better soon

Sometimes we need a kick in the butt to get started.

So Killer (my cane) and I wiggled with a limp down the block to the hospital.

I was told although the cut was clean it was deep. So, a tetnus (sp?) shot, 4 stitches and a script for antibiotics. You see with this cancer my immune system is totally shot.
So any type off infection is something my body just can't fight off by itself. I go to see my doctor on Thursday.

Thank you, Ladies.
