Here in NJ we are preparing ourselves as best we can for this Horrible weather.

Tornadoes and Hurricans (earlier this week an Earthquake, June a tornado) :nono:

Just wanted to pray everyones makes it out safely. Stay BLessed!

here in hackensack, lights went out early in the day but came right back on. so far so good. hope it goes by without harm. be safe, stay in, dont take chances. watch a movie, play with your hair products, read a book, hey write me a song. lol

As the a Southerner, the hurricane really is no big deal. Its the tornados that come off of it that are the doozy and destroyers.

Stay safe and don't do anything foolish like go outside in it. We'll be praying for you guys in Alabama.

No disrespect but after Hurricane Katrina and NJ's virginess to it.
The Hurricanes, Tornadoes and Tropical Storm together are all bad but alone they are still not to be undermined!

The weather man mentioned this today. People from other places are used to it but we have lots of close buildings and high buildings over 9 million in population and our areas are well treed mixed into the population. The weather in more southern places act very different to the up Northern City area.

I think all are a concern especially since we aren't use to it and flooding is more common then Hurricane here.

My prayers are still holding on, Folks we aren't out of the woods yet, the worst is still suppose to be yet to come.

Thanks for all the prayers to all the states holding on right now. Thank God for ease and lack of harm done, but let's not think it is media hype just yet. (as said by someone on the facebook)

I stopped by Sally's Beauty Supply this morning to get my hurricane supplies. I've got enough conditioner and leave in to last me a quite a while. :-)
I'm in Northern VA and its been raining for the last 11 hours.

I agree with @JJamiah To those of on the east coast (speaking for myself because i'm a born/raised Jersey girl) a Hurricane despite the magnitude is serious because we are really unsure as to how to handle it. The way I look at it is, just like a snow storm is nothing to us a hurricane can seem like nothing to you.

LaidBak You know what :spank: :giggle:

We need a little humour, it is TENSE UP IN THIS HOUSE right now!

this is a really slow moving storm. The slowest i've seen. I'm tired of waiting like just get here already so we can get this over with.

Here in upstate NY ! Looking forward to getting this over with! :look: better go get my water and juice that I forgot in the car. May as well go cook my lamb chops. Did you all fill your tubs with water?

It is right above us here in VA, we are right in the storm and it doesn't feel like much at all. It is about to be downgraded to a tropical storm.

Tubs will slowly very slowly drain most of the time. You could try using press and seal over the plug before filling the tub. We used to fill garbage cans(clean) and rubbermaid containers when I lived on the Gulf Coast. Prayers for all of you affected. Stay safe.

Just wanted to make y'all smile. I really am riding out the storm by DCing though. Did a cassia treatment and now I am going under the dryer with some conditioner and oil.

I'm in north Jersey. I'm on a fuel cell so my power won't go out... therefore tomorrow is a designated hair pampering day for me. Be safe guys! :)

They shut everything down here. No buses trains, nada. I have no problems with staying in my house. Although I'm like hmm cause not more than a few miles from me a friend had to evacuate her house and she's not even really on the water. We brought in all of our plants and whatnot inside yesterday so nothing would fly away.

Stay IN the house. Last time flying debris had folks messed up, dude was walking down the street and got slammed by a flying wooden board and had to go to right to the ER.

I'm a new New Yorker from NC (moved 2 months ago) so, I'm use to Hurricanes, however I have no clue how this is gonna work in NYC. I still love the city...even if they shut everything down . I'm glad I made friends with the people in my building...this has turned into a party...a pregame before the big hoorah.

My family in NC and VA are fine and they don't have any damage thank the lord. I pray the same thing for NYC. Be safe ladies!

The real test for us in VA will be the winds. So many trees out here! Power lines are so susceptible to that.
My neighbors didn't pull any of their furniture off their deck. I tell you what...if I have one bit of damage from their ish flying around its going to be ugly!

I'm nervous, I can't lie. We NYers have NO idea how to deal with this crap. Snow? Now we will go out with high heels, take our cars to the party and stay out ALL night in the stuff; we're so used to that but hurricane and earthquake?! Oh NO!

Im in BK. its raining hard here with some wind but God is in control. I can't do anything but take a drink, chill with my fam and wait it out. Hope all of you are safe and please stay indoors if you can!

Talk to u when this ***** Irene is over!

Right! I'm NJ born and raised. I've never experienced a hurricane until I moved south. I'm on edge worried about my fam and friends having to deal with this hurricane and with no real experience. Meantime, I'm sitting here wondering what's happening.

Category 1 hurricane may not seem like much to some but, this thing is moving slowly and that is trouble in itself, just beating the east coast slowly but powerfully. Please be careful. Lives have been lost already. Flying debris alone is enough to kill, let alone the tornadoes that are showing up. Ugh. I'm stressed and praying for you guys. PLEASE check in when all this crap is over. Be safe.

I am praying for the safety of everyone in the path of Irene. Be safe and please do not take any unnecessary chances. God is in control. May His covering and loving arms protect you.

I am so happy I walked my dog, and moved my car. I pray that by the time his next walk is, Irene will be dead or weak.

NATIVE FLORIDIAN HERE

:bighug: to everyone. In Florida, this is a yearly occurrence and trust, we are not immune to it. Storms are unpredictable and no two are the same.

Prayers are with you all. Be safe and God be with you.
