How many times do you use heat

Me never. I only use heat when I get my hair relaxed to blowdry and flatiron. That's it and special occasions such as Easter.

but Howse is natural...natural hair can take it.

I voted once a week, but that is only sometimes. Generally I only flat iron my new growth or when I do flat iron, I run the iron through fast, on 370, and once and sometimes stop short of the ends.

She did this when she was relaxed too. It's in the book she wrote before she transitioned. But do take note ladies, she also washed and DC'd each time.

I use "DIRECT" heat once every 90days....4 times per year....for length checks only.

I dc with heat 2x's per week....:yep:

I don't use direct heat at all. I did about 6 months ago, and the reason why I stopped is because my hair hates silicones, and the main ingredient in heat protectant is some sort of -cone. My hair would feel nice when I flat ironed it, then after a few days it would start feeling fake and plasticky. Then when I washed my hair it would feel AWFUL for the next 2 weeks and I'd spend all that time trying to get my hair back to balance. I relax my hair every 3-4 months so I deemed heat unnecessary.

My hair is too short right now, but when I can, it will be twice a month. Cathy is heat trained, but her ends were horribly damaged in one of her videos.:nono: Sometimes the expert's advice is questioned if your hair is jacked up. She is really very proud of the way her hair looks, too.

I give myself one heat pass per month, but I may or may not use it. I can not use any direct heat for months at a time without blinking. That's more of my preference rather than for retention.

Yeah, I was shocked when I saw her ends. I hope mine don't look like that once I flat iron. I hope she bounced back...

It depends.
If I'm 16+ weeks post, I flat iron my roots once a week.
Before that, I either do it not at all or every two - three weeks. As long as I make sure to only do my roots, everything is all good.

I used to use heat twice a week (rollerset and flat iron) and it seemed like my hair retained as well as it does now.
