Sad to hear this store closing. I've been meaning to check this store out for the longest. Well I"m off today so i'm gonna go and see what's left. I really want some KBB. I hope they have some left.

Sunshine_One I was just thinking the same thing last night because I don't know of ANY other store like The Hair & Body Boutique in the DMV. I mean that's why I traveled to her store because she had it all. Now I guess it's back to paying shipping and handling out the ying yang.

prettyinpurple Fab_Nikki She said they only had KBB shampoo left. :( I wanted the ambrosia and butter love. A friend gave me samples last summer and I loved the Pomegranate guava and Chamomile sage scents.:lick: I'm reluctant to metro/bus all the way out there and find they really are out of it. I guess I'll have to wait for a NYC day trip and just go the KBB store. After all the reviews...I don't want to order from KBB.

I think the U St area would have been PERFECT for a store/salon like this. However, I'm sure the rent is obscene. I remember Miko of Miss Jessies opened her salon on 9th St. This was when she moved to DC after the sisters had their split. It was small but cute. I went there and purchased some MJ products just before she moved back to NYC. So I think it's doable. I wonder how much she paid for that space.....:scratchch

Sunshine_One Let's open a business!!!!!!!! hehehehehe hubby says I have enough hair supplies to open one. LOL

I bet the rent was crazy and I KNOW it would be crazy high in DC. However all these naturals in the DMV I think she could make a great profit!

Wow they had several jars of the KBB Butter Love in pomegranate guava yesterday evening. I saw a jar of the Luscious Locks Hair Mask too. I think the only bottle I saw was the shampoo tho.

It is a hike out there so I understand the reluctance to go.

Is it sad that I wanna go back tonight even though I know what's there? I won't have time to go tomorrow.

Well I know that hairveda has products at this dusty little consignment shop in mt rainier. And her prices are all off lol. She charged me $12 for the sitrinillah when im pretty sure it goes for $18. I think she just guessed at the price. I would call before going out there because she said ppl come specifically on days they receive shipments and buy up all the whipped ends

I wish someone in the DMV would rent her some space at a bargain price! Somebody has a basement they aren't using LOL...

Now I would've have gotten the SitriNillah if they still had one left. I can't resist a DC.

I did see the Vatika Frosting (several jars), Acai Berry Phyto, AvoSoya, and CoCasta. I didn't know the Vatika Frosting was a liquid. I was all confused LOL. I assumed it was creamy since it's a 'frosting.' But I was kinda weirded out b/c I've never seen coconut oil completely turn into a liquid like that :/ It was a golden liquid pretty much. The a/c was on and it wasn't sitting in direct sunlight so I don't know what the deal was w/that.

LOL I noticed that too about the Vatika Frosting. I have some at home and it is NOT liquidy. LOL I put it back down too.

I just got a FB message from Doreen. I'd asked her about the availability of the pumpkin seed and she said someone brought like 5 bottles of every DB product. WHO WAS IT????????? I'm not gonna be mad, just be truthful with me. We're all friends here. :lachen:

Girl I think I know of the exact lil shop you speak of! She has a lil nice nasty tude also. I used to trek out there for my KCCC products back in 2007. Whew I was so HAPPY when Whole Paycheck aka Whole foods starting selling it! That ended my Mt. Rainer trips.

Hmmmm see part of me wants to ride out there just to check in person. Let me see how long it will take me on metro...oh yeah then the bus. This not important enough for me to go and get a zipcar. Not cost wise anyway.

Girl yes you read my mind!! I'm sooooo tired of chasing down product! I'm working on getting my cosmetology license. So opening up something hair/makeup related (I'm freelance MU) is my plan. So we should chat. If not U St. I think the H ST area in NE. That is pretty up coming also.

ETA: Yes I could tell Miko was making a pretty penny here in DC. That shop was super busy. She had a nice spread of fruit and veggies. The place looked nice. For the prices she charged I guess she had to make it look good! I will take a walk over there one day and find out who is in that space now.

A store on H Street is a FABULOUS idea ladies. If I'm allowed to keep it all the way real in here (cuz sometimes folks are easily offended :look:)....the area is gentrifying enough to be trendy, and not so much so to be off-putting.

The lady in H&B said the reason the White Oak location didn't work was b/c it was too far away for her "customers" (code word for "sisters" as far as I was concerned). She said they were loyal enough to sometimes make the trip, but she also needed the support from the surrounding community to keep her afloat. And she just wasn't getting it.

Maybe it's just me, but I was surprised as to why as business owner, she hadn't considered the demographics of a neighborhood before she opened the store? I could have saved her a TON of $$ with just my anectdotal examples of better locations.

I brought the sitrinillah...am I going to looove this stuff? I'd never heard of it but the lady at HBB said it's very popular.

Fab_Nikki

Now...:look: I'm not one to "Gossip" but that Is my Baby-Daddy:lol:

But you see, I'm relaxed and it gets alot of mixed reviews from Naturals.:look:

I can't wait to see if You likey.:lick:

I just got me some shea butter and dipped.

Fab_Nikki I loooovvveee the sitrinillah. Smells great and feels soo good. I have to get some more soon. On hairvedas site they also have refill packs so you don't have to keep getting the jar. But I'm relaxed. As for the Vatika Frosting in the store, I picked it up and was like wth?! Never seen it look like that. The cashier started rapping abt it but I can't say I care too much for her so I just gave her the side nod lol. But I bought it and sent an email to hairveda abt it before I got home. They said it was fine and to put it in the fridge. Although the one I alreay had doesn't melt to a piss colored liquid, my love for frosting is too strong to pass it up for only $5. And when I checked it this morning it was fine. I'm satiated. I just realized that Tiiva is located in upper marlboro. That's where I live lol. I don't wanna pay shipping for a place if I can just stop by someone's business. Off to shoot them an email...

Sunshine_One We will definitely have to chat because I am sooo serious. I believe we could do wonderful things with a supply store for naturals. #winning!

bride91501 I agree I am NOT familiar with that area but I always thought that the store should be ALWAYS poppin' with the amount of naturals I see around. The day I was in there 2 ladies walked in, then promptly walked out AFTER the lady told them the prices. So, maybe the "hood" wasn't checkin' for natural products. I wanted to shop there OFTEN but that hike was no joke with me living in Woodbridge. :ohwell:

@ IDareT'sHair I am going to have a tryst with your Baby-Daddy tonight *in my Bernie Mac voice* I will tell you how good he was to me. :lachen:

chebaby Yeessss I would make up "fake" appointments so I could leave work early so I'd be half way there.

kupenda You and IDareT'sHair yall have me scared to use it now with the "but I'm relaxed" comments. I'd hate for my hair to be a mess after I've steamed with it. Decisions, decisions. *might be on the swap board soon* lol
