I am super annoyed right now after washing my press out I notice some sections are super straight! I'm guessing my stylist must have burned some sections. Is there any way to revert my hair? Don't tell me I'm gonna have to cut it?

Do a protein treatment and deep condition to asses the damage. If the hair still doesn't revert, you can cut it immediately, or disguise the straight sections with protective styles and cut later.

I just did a protein treatment and it is still straight. I cannot afford to cut my hair, I'm just now getting comfortable with the length. I cannot believe that I let another stylist jack up my hair again. This is ridiculous!

Keep up the DC treatments and give your hair a while, it may not be totally damaged but in "shock" What kind of protein did you use?

:( I'm sorry Kinky! What treatment did you use?

I used the Cathy Howse conditioner which is basically a protein treatment. I just twisted them so I'll wait until next week to see if it improves. I only straighten my hair to get a trim and this is what I get. Smh

It may take a few treatments of both protein and moisture for them to revert. In the mean time, if you wear your hair curly, try to disguise those sections, if you can.

Thanks ladies, I will continue to do the protein treatments and see what happens.

When I first got my Sedu flatiron 3 years ago I underestimated how hot it actually was and was using 400 degrees to flatiron...... I ended up with some singed/burnt pieces..... I did protein and deep conditioning treatments and wore my hair wavy via the twist out method for about 2 months, and used no heat. I didn't have to cut my hair, and doing that helped my hair heal. I now use my flatiron on 320 degrees.

Cathy Howse's conditioner is probably good for basic maintenance but if u are trying to repair damage u may need something a little bit stronger. I'm about a year into my transition and I was previously texlaxed. I was flat ironing once a week and my hair still curled beautifully when I washed it. I learned how to make my curls bounce right back. What I do is deep condition with a medium protein (millcreek botanicals keratin conditioner) then shampoo and proceed with a moisturizing conditioner. My hair was so strong and healthy when I used that method and heat damage wasn't ever a problem and I always used the highest setting to flat iron.

Kinkyhairlady, how did everything turn out for you? Did you end up cutting? I'm trying to save my damaged ends and am trying to decide if I might as well just cut :nono: or fight it out with twist extensions or another protective style in the meantime.

My hair is much better now. I prepoo with Amla oil and condition. I seal with natures blessing pomade. Minimal breakage. I just need a trim.
