She mixes Downy with her conditioner? 0_0

I wonder what possessed her to try that in the first place to even find out if she liked it or not. :lol: It clearly works for her, but I won't be trying it.

ETA: I was just doing a search for braid sprays too. Maybe I need to try this fabric softener and water mix. :lachen:
 
I've read about people using Downy before. It is not something I'd do, but as long as it isn't hurting anyone more power to them.

Downy Ultra Liquid Fabric Softener – I lived in New Orleans and Washington, DC, two of the most humid places in the world. Where there is humidity, there is poofy and tangled Caroline hair. I mix Downy with the conditoner when deep conditonining. Also, before wrapping my hair at night, I spray it with mist of Downy and water. It lays the hair right on down! ($4 to 5 bucks. Target or Walmart!)

I still can't view the link... But I was reading Glamour magazine at the beach yesterday & one of their beauty tips was to rub a dryer sheet on freshly flat ironed hair. It said it would help keep the hair from getting frizzy longer. I thought that was crazy... And now this. There must be something to it :lol: I won't be trying it though lol.

When I had bad tangles it was suggested I use a teaspoon of fabric softener with my conditioner.

I haven't heard of using liquid fabric softer on hair but I have heard of using dryer sheets for frizzy hair.

I can get soft hair from water and Hawaiian silky or Vo5 conditioner

I have heard of using this on synthetic wigs and hair to refresh it. I wouldn't put this on my real hair though it's so heavily perfumed and...yeah.

I love Caroline though her weight loss story is amazing.
 
SCURL and some other products made for "black" hair contain something called stearalkonium chloride. This is a fabric softener and it is used to soften fibers whether those fibers are cotton, polyster or human hair.
 
Stearalkonium chloride is an anti-static compound which is why it's in softeners. By reducing the chance of static electricity buildup in clothes or hair, then clothes are less likely to cling/stick onto you and hair less likely to have flyaways.

While I've never owned a show cat or needed to do this, I seem to recall reading about Downy or other fabric softener being used in the final rinse solution to help condition the coat in preparation for a show. Cats lick their coat so as I type this I'm wondering how safe it is, although the idea is to rinse it out afterward. Still :perplexed

Anyway, so I suppose using Downy to "tame" hair isn't so crazy after all. Like others though, I'm good. Flyaways have never really bothered me.
 
I've washed weave hair for others in fabric softener. Downy was not the brand I chose. It was a Suvitel - but it worked okay. Does that mean the chemicals in fs would be good for the hair/human scalp - that's another issue. No thank you.
 
This is better than the cooch cream (mn) and bacon smelling mtg ppl put on their hair :lachen:

And it smell wayyyyy better than s-curl which has similar ingredients.
 
JMO but if you have to resort to using downy a fabric softener in your hair to get soft hair because absolutely no other hair product in the world works then I'd recommend trying a fade instead....
 
Oh God, I am allergic to fabric softeners which is one of the most toxic household chemical products to use. I would be in migraine hell if I got next to her.
 
Ok when I thought that coochie creme, horse products and dog products were pushing the limits back than... o_0 Now its Downy!!!! o_0 holy smoke
