Is it healthy/good for hair? I see alot ladies say they air dry and have to wait hours for it to dry. I was thinking whats wrong with a fan you can get it dry within 20 minutes? It's a very relaxing thing to do before bed.

That sounds like a good idea - I'm curious to see if anyone does it and how quickly it gets their hair dry.

yea im doing it now as im typing to u been doing it for like 2 years. It actually doesnt take that long to dry your hair with a fan compared to waiting on it to air dry. Takes mine less than 30 minutes. I use the fan that stands up on a pole.

30 minutes!!! Really??? I'm so on it!!! The next time that I really want to wash but don't have the time for it to dry before bed I"m going to try it. I'm excited:grin:

ETA: who am I kidding, if this headache goes away by tomorrow I'm doing tomorrow:yep:

I think airdrying with a fan might make your hair dry if it's blowing cool/cold air but if it's blowing warm air it shouldn't hurt anything.

I've dried with a fan before and I also use cool on my blowdryer to dry/stretch my hair, with no dryness.

I've air dried with a fan before...it works nicely. But my hood dryer is just as effective.

We have ceiling fans, so I always sit under one while I airdry.

Dh (who claims to not know anything about what I do to my hair :giggle:) bought me a small personal fan about 2 months ago. It fits perfectly on my nightstand. I put it on high and my hair is dry in about 45 minutes.

I use moisturizing leave-ins, so no issues with dryness here.

sunnieb You've been holding out!! I didn't read that in your fotki:nono:

I have before, but it's because my hair didn't fully dry overnight when in large braids.

It's not a preferable method for me, but it couldn't hurt that much. It made my hair a little dry, though.

Nix08 I'm sorry! This is why discussion boards are needed! Forgive me girl!

Anyway, I guess I shouldn't say always. There are many times that I put my scarf on and do house stuff so moving around helps. I will also put my hair in a ponytail and go out and run errands. It's so hot here, my hair is dry in no time.

In the winter, I do just let it hang dry because it's too dern cold to have fans running.

Also, I edited my post. My husband got me the little fan a short while ago. I haven't always had it.

I don't think much about it, if I am in my room, the AC doesn't do nothing for upstairs and I have the fan on to keep cool. I never thought about it helping to dry my hair faster. I am just conscious of the fan going if my hair is out that it will make my ends drier.

Yesterday I had the fan going after I washed my hair but I had a silk head tie on, trying to compress my hair. I found the head tie protected my ends while drying.

I do I started doing it early last year after watching a woman do it on YT.I never have dry hair

I took a break when my fan broke and was PISSED.

Once I got my new one before the weather here turned horribly hot, I was happy as a jay bird

I just did it last night prior to using my caruso rollers.

i have never tried it. i know that if i get into the car with the windows down, my hair dries much faster though. but i like how my hair looks better when it airdries slowly

I don't, because I've just accepted the fact that my hair takes FOREVER sometimes to dry and I'm slapping a wig on it nine times out of ten anyway so it doesn't matter LOL...

But for my oldest DD, whose hair literally takes dang-near 2 days to completely air dry, I sit her underneath our ceiling fan for a spell after I've styled her hair (maybe for 30 minutes or so?), and it takes her hair from wet to barely damp.

This is how I usually dry my hair but now I have a blow dryer with a cool setting and my hair feels the same. The fan idea came when I was strapped for time one morning before going to work and the fan was already running and I said ok, why not? It's been for about 6 months.

I had ceiling fans installed 22 yrs ago, and I love the way a fan feels in the summertime!! I also have high velocity floor fans to help speed the drying process. Argan oil coats my hair and it dries perfectly ok. I'm relaxed, tight curls.

I do and I think it's great for my low porosity hair which usually takes forever to dry !!! I put the fan behind me, and stay while surfing on the net and then I do apply my leave in and seal for avoiding frizz.

I have read about many long haired ladies, mostlly White, who dry by fan. I would never try it because I can't stand air blowing directly on me.
