.....and i can't wait to get home and snatch off this half wig.

For the rest of the summer i'm gonna have to forget my personal 'hide my hair challenge' and just deal with my own hair as its waaaay too hot.

I feel like i got one of those big russian winter hats on - lol.

I am hiding my hair as well, but today I had to take the wig off.Its HOTTT.I am lucky that I am not working today,I could have been sweating buckets at work:nono::nono:

Girl, with all this humidity my hair is no longer trying to blend with that shop bought hair.....i will be home in half an hour!!!!

Hang in there hun. When you get home just open the door and take it off.Iam not sure what am I going to do tommorrow as mine is a full cap.Hopefully it will not be as hot as today.

Bublin, I beat you to it!lololol As soon as I got in I took all my canerows out and I'm about to wash my hair. Lord it was HOTTTT today!

i love this heat! we don't get it often, my hair hasn't taken to the heat so well tho :( its sucking up water like its nothing and by mid day is completely dried out! my hair is sooo thick and coarse, even wearing it in a bun its still drying out boohoo:(

London ladies, what are ya'll calling hot? I'm in Arizona and yesterday it was 114, today it's 116 .

LOL yesterday when I was in London I had my hair out =S and the day before that as well... my hair was still ok!! Well moisturised it beforehand. And today in Birmingham, we had the same heat... I wore a wig, but it was definitely very hot, won't be doing that again lol!

It's blooming hot! Heat in London is worse because the houses/transport are not built for it. I had all the windows and doors open and found my fan.

@Coffee I'm wondering too exactly how hot could it be? In Jamaica the heat is downright disgusting. As soon as you step out of the shower, sweat starts to roll down your back.:nono:

Chyle DONT feel bad! I live in the SouthEast United States (North Carolina), and I have to abandon my wigs and half-wigs by early March of every year! I typically hide my hair from late Sept-March every year. Thats about all I can stand! Cuz I already have super thick hair under the wig, and even while braided I feel like I have a wool hat on even in spring! Just try other PS!

ETA: If its hot in London then you would be suffering big time here in the States...it has been in the 98-101 range daily (with 90% humidity) for the past 2 wks. I HAVE one of those Russian style wool winter hats! And I've worn it...my hair feels just like that when I have a wig on in the southern heat. Can't do it.

I know the feeling. I went to a party in the park this weekend and I was sweating like I stole somthing. I took my wig off in the car on the way home even though my hair was a mess underneath. I came home & relaxed my hair so that I could wear it down. Wigs can feel like big hats in the summertime.

Our heat is a dry heat, and yes it actually is a difference. I can take the dry heat over the heat w/high humidity. At least we sweat and cool off, can't say the same with the humidity.

We took a cruise to the Bahamas in July and that humidity kicked my butt big time :lachen:.

You're scaring me. My wedding is planned for late may and I switched back to Jamaica for next year (and I don't want any frizz!). Is it going to be really hot by then?
(I wanted to wear my hair half up half down and was planning on getting a hard press:spinning: I know my natural hair might laugh but I know when I lived in California it was 118 and with a hard press my hair did not revert for three weeks...I miss that hair stylist! But it was not heat damaged either. As soon as it was washed it'd go back to normal) So...spill bajandoc about Jamaica how's the humidity and heat in late may...sorry to hijack the thread
:look:

its HOT in Florida too ... If my hair is in a braid, I can oil rinse or co-wash daily. If its in twists, I rinse with water, acv, ayurvedic tea and spray with moisturizer ... 3 days is a record.

I bought one wig 5 years ago and its still in a bag somewhere with the price tag on it ... wth was I thinking? :look:

Well luckiestdestiny usually May is when it's now starting to heat up. So it's not that bad. Since beginning of June the heat has gone to another level.....some parts of the island it's waaayyy more humid than others. Down here generally speaking ladies don't press their hair.....as soon as you step outside....POOF! I will ask around to see if anyone has luck with keeping a pressed style though.

I must say tho, as Coffee pointed out, the dry heat is more tolerable, and usually that's the heat we'd have during the summer. But this yr, the humidity is definitely worse.

Bublin DAMN!! I send my condolences to you ladies trying to manage with that heat. Does it always get this hot in the summer every year?

Yep! I had to put away my silk top lace wig for the summer. Around April I found myself sweating for no reason....and then realized it was the wig.

I'm in crochet braids for the summer....much cooler.

Tried to wear my half wig at the beach in SC this weekend. That lasted for about 15 minutes
! I felt like my head was in an oven with a muppet on top!

Making an appointment for crochet braids this week!

I was just in Jamaica (Kingston, Spanish Town, Silver Sands, Montego Bay and Negril) and though the temps weren't that high (compared to Las Vegas and Phoenix) the humidity was INTENSE. Yet I saw ladies looking cool and beautiful in full wigs and full weaves. Most looked completely unaffected by the humidity and heat. I on the other hand looked like a wilted, sweaty and flushed flower. I wish I knew their secret. DH said it was mind over matter and they were thinking "cool thoughts".

DWL!!! :lachen: that is hilarious. Yep we're pretty much used to the heat for the most part. So we wig it, weave it as if it was cool as can be. These ladies down here not gonna let a little thing like heat and humidity spoil a hairstyle mi dear. No suh!!!

May is an excellent time to go, it will be hot but nowhere near their hottest temperatures they get in July/August. :yep:

I was in Manchester, Mandeville when the heatwave was going on in London and I was cold! It is really cool that side of Jamaica, you need to bring a few cardigans or sweaters.

The heat of Kingston is FIERCE! My mum dragged me out to watch cricket in that burning heat ALL day! I've certainly got a tan!
