Tightly Curly, yaw'll hipped to her?

I just read up on it, but it doesn't seem to be working for me (I've tried it). Conditioner does not define my curls unfortunately. I also don't really consider her hair "tightly curly." She has a vid on youtube re: her hair journey. It's pretty atrocious what her family member did to her hair. She has gorgeous hair, though, so more power to her. Glad she found something that works for her.

Yeah, I agree with Cherokee-n-Black. Her hair isn't "tightly curly"... more like "loosely curly" or "wavy"...

Her site was one of the first I saw when I decided to grow my hair out. Her hair journey is extremely inspirational and there is a wealth of info on the site.

I've been using her method for my twists/twistouts and it works fabulously!! Paired with castor oil--very soft, touchable hair, and defined twistouts.

I don't think I could wear my hair out like she does because I don't think there is any conditioner on the market that could weigh my hair down like that.

I'm glad her method works for her (lol) but it did nothing for me (fine - 4A) or my roommate (course - 3B). She does share some basic, good information though. The method just hasn't worked for anyone that I know.

Yea her site is cool I liked the results when I tried it but the build up and dryness from hello hydration was horrible.
the book I shouldn't have bought it didn't help me
but I respect and appreciate her attempts

I love her method!!! It's really helpful to me when I want to have a low mani style for the week. I wish I would use it more consistently.

Wow she sure spends a lot of time on her hair. Pulling apart every little curl??? Never would have the patience for that.

I cant use a Denman brush on my hair (rips it out) and I don't have the patience to mess with every single curl, but I do like the conditioner method. I've never used any of the recommended conditioners and my hair doesn't like non water soluble silicons, but the overall principle works for me.

Thanks to her creative idea of leaving in rinse out conditioners my life has definitely become easier and I am natural also because of that. I learned from her about cetyl alcohol weighing down hair and creating clumping, and I have learnt so much from her ingredient dictionary, which I used for a year whenever I bought something.

I have different hair (doesn't like silicones, needs something else besides conditioner, needs braidouts, finger detangling, protein)... But looking at her haircare practices and the way she demistifies labels, keeps it simple, focuses on ingredients and keeps the strands lubricated, has been the key in understanding my hair, practices and products.

I thought the same thing until I looked at her photo history. It also may look looser bc of the weight from it being so long. She certainly looks kinky curly in her pictures from her first few years with natural hair. I'd say in the 3c range. Possibly smaller. Her curls are small in diameter. The relaxer and transitioning pics look different too. Most of her life she wore her hair in an afro until she learned to care for it. She even had some dred shots in there. I don't think loosely curly/wavy hair will make a good fro or dreds.

I think the curly primer method just smooths her hair out much like shingling does. It looks totally different from her old pictures now. I used the same method on my BoBraz hair and it looked like a different head of weave. It was a giant bushy beast once it dried until I tried this. I've yet to try it on my own hair though. Maybe I should? Hmmm... :scratchch:

ETA: I'm still sitting here looking through her site. She describes her curls as smaller than a pencil and shows a picture next to a pencil. What is that? 3C? She says it would be a fro if she cut it short. Maybe she's a silky 4a? Hmmm....

While spying the vid I was thinking to myself "How would/could I incorporate this with co-washing?" I co-wash ummm, maybe 6 out of 7 days a week on the average.

i wouldn't call her hair wavy...its not the tightest curls, but it is still tightly curled, and also the length can weigh it down...i dont have time/patience to brush and smooth every curl, but sometimes i do just leave in regular conditioners...i might try her whole method one day though.

Right and that's after she's thoroughly combed it out with conditioner. It reminds me of the shingled hair on the Miss Jessies site. My curls tend to look bigger when I do that but it also shrinks more. That's why I don't like to use the Denman on wash and go hair. But they do form bigger, looser clumps of curls. I think this may be what her hair is doing. She has some pictures where her hair is less defined and it definitely looks different. It doesnt look all smooth, elongated and shiny like the main pictures.

I've been using this method on my daughters' hair (somewhere in the 2s and the late 3s). And it worked wonders on their hair. I'll keep doing it. I may try it once my transition is over.

I like her hair rules. I have been using regular conditioner as a leave in way before I ever heard of hair boards or Terri, and it definitely helped improve my hair.

Terri has a great site. I sometimes use the ingredient dictionary. I bought the e-book but wasn't super impressed interested story though. I have taken away from her method: CG lifestyle, and leaving in WAY more conditioner than I previously thought. Some conditioners work better for different things.
