@lady_godivaNow see...that's not exactly what I had in mind. See, if I'm coming to meet you for lunch, my hair'd be in a protective style first of all, probably in a bun or somep'n. After all, I'm meeting a Nikos' Cousin and I have gotta represent. Then I'd also try to be a little flashier than that. Did you forget the bling on my bow??
And I'd make sure to start hollering for you from a block away so you'd be good and ready coz I hate waiting.
I'm a fix that pic for you. BRB.
I'd wear it!
Let me see if I can find a fuschia one with sequins on it.![]()
Headbands for now... what are drawz next......? Lol
You already know what it izzzzzzzzz.
Yanno? What we supposed to be wearing now, bloomers? GTFOOHWTBS
Bottom line - headbands, "Message" t-shirts, and nerd glasses are for younger people. You can post pics and dictionary definitions all day, but it is what it is.
@Nonie - when I look at Halle Berry, I see a 40-something year old woman who looks damn good for her age. Amazing body, beautiful skin, but she's clearly not young. Everybody was ooing and aahing over some football wife named Pilar. She looks old to me. Not that she doesn't look good. One woman in Hollywood who defies age is Stacey Dash. So, I'm not saying it's not possible.
I don't go around trying to guess people's ages, but since you posted pics, I'll say that it's much easier to guess someone's age in real life than in pics. I can't define YOUTH, it just is what it is. I look at an 18-year-old and I could be slimmer than her and in better shape, but she is still younger than me...it's very clear - why is that a problem? If you look good for your age, why get defensive?

well, you shouldn't be wearing little flowery girly panties. That's why they don't sell them in the adult department....
@Solitude, must say you are rather entertaining.
First of all, who's being defensive? I'm challenging a hypothesis that I find absolutely ridiculous and asking those who propose it to explain themselves. That you find Madonna trying too hard when those glasses have always been worn by old folks (wayyyyyyyyy older than Madonna) is beyond comical. But when I think about it, we're from two different worlds. Heck you were still in diapers when I was graduating from high school so it's like me having a discussion with my mom about what's hip and what isn't. For the record, those glasses have always been ugly to me and they look ugly on both of them--uber nerdy and just wrong! (Fashionistas shoot me but I call crazy when I see it. Methinks Fashionistas just have a way of hypnotizing folks and getting them to buy any BS they sell them.I wish someone would try telling me something so ugly is cute.
)
About Pilar... the high cheekbones and little fat on face are a huge give-away that she may not be a teenager--note I say "may" coz I'm sure there's some human somewhere with a mature face while she's still pretty young. But I wouldn't be able to tell if she were in her 20's, 30's or 40's...coz I don't have the genius to discern """youth""". You say you can't tell youth or absence thereof from pictures, huh? So when did you hang out with any of these people in real life so you can actually see them (not in pics--includes moving pictures) and discern they have youth or don't have youth? And what on earth does "Looks good for her age" bloody mean? Doesn't it mean her age is supposed to look worse than that so that she looks that way means she looks better than she's supposed to look at that age. And if her age is supposed to look worse, (erhmm..let me think about this...
) then she has to look like a younger age. But what age then? Now that is the question. According to you, cannot be 25
as if 25 is a SET look. If it were, would there be all the debates about how old Beyonce is or was a few years ago? Maybe now folks have come to agree on her age...but I remember endless threads arguing about how she isn't the age she professes. I don't know if you took part but since you seem to have this ability to tell when someone is a certain age from how they look, I'll be sure to pay attention if you ever enter such a discussion as those of Bey. I am skeptical, but hey, I do like to give people the benefit of the doubt.
Now back to the topic at hand, wouldn't it be funny if everyone 40+ decided one day to don whatever headband we want and just step out in style (coz that's how we roll!) just to annoy so-called determinants of what people should wear?I'm actually considering it. :scratchch
I absolutely adore you, Nonie.![]()
Who says they don't sell flowery panties for grown folks?I have a married friend who turned 50 who only buys those, and not thongs, but same shape and style they sell for little kids...so hello?
And she doesn't shop in kiddies department either. Heck even at Victoria's Secret among the adult selection are floral ones.
Andat you writing "You shouldn't be wearing little flowery girly panties". You talking to me? I hope not coz I dunno who died and made you boss of me. What happens if I don't listen and do what the heck I want?
Nonie
Still trying to figure out why/how you can disagree with my statements that 20-year old women generally look younger than 40-year old women & that some trends are for younger people but it's not really worth me arguing about...
...trying to be the boss of you? Yeah, um, okay....I can't argue with random ish

ETA: I'll try to give an example that's not headbands, so maybe folks won't be so offended. Take nerd glasses - love this trend. But, it's for younger people. On Scarlett Johannson (age 26) it looks cute, trendy. On Madonna (age 52) - she looks like she's trying waaayyy too hard.
I dont like most of them for anyone past the single digits of age, dont wear them, looks silly/kiddie to me...kinda cheapens the style. Have seen a very few cute ones, but bows and fake flowers and glitter and rainbows and whatnot on adults looks goofy. jmo.
*touches headband, self consciously looking around the office*
say it aint so joe...
