hello everyone,

Today I have purchased my first wig, it's a lace front. Upon trying it on, it looked great. My DH agreed that it looks very nice. Now, I'm sort of shy to wear it because it is a considerable difference from what my hair looks like naturally.

My hair looks like this naturally (Texlaxed):

and this is what the wig's texture looks exactly like this:

has anyone here worn a wig that is a dramatic change to thier natural hair?

what kind of reactions did you get?

what's were your experiences?

If you do/don't continue to wear a wig, can you please state why? thanks!

I'm Wigging it. My Wig looks very similar to how I wear/wore my Hair. I always say: "Imma do something more dramatic" but I always stick with the same style.:perplexed

The furthest outta the box I've been is Phony-Bunning.:look:

Enjoy Your New Summer Look!

I like that wig. What's the name of it? I'd rock it and if anyone asked questions, I'd let them know where I bought it

ETA:

I normally always wear a wig close to my straightened and curly natural texture for that reason. But I've worn a few that were much shorter or longer. I honestly have never really gotten comments other than "Oh your hair looks pretty like that" (usually when I wear my curly updo wig). I get more comments on my real hair being fake than any wig I've ever worn

Now that I'm natural, I haven't worn a wig remotely close to my texture in quite some time and I rock all my straight, water wave, loose curl wigs til the wheels fall off on those bad boys. Everyone loves them, but I think it's b/c they know it's a wig and love the variety. I even have some of the older white ladies in my office asking me questions about them. You just gotta know in your head that if you look good, everyone else will think so too.

Plus that wig just looks like you got a blow out and roller set. If anyone asks, tell them that lol

Oh Precious - i wear a different wig every week. Its so much fun. Hair is an accessory. Makes a outfit pop! Have fun with hair. Rock diverse styles. It doesnt matter that people know its a wig as long as it not "wiggy". I am sure you look fantastic no matter what the style is.

Theres nothing wrong wearing a wig as long your not dependent on it to give you confidence or make your feel pretty. I dont wear them, but to some women its like the same as fake nails or color contacts, just and accessory.

The brand : Pazazz
Style: PL NICKI
color: 1B

Is that the name of the first or the second wig cause i NEED the first one in my life! name pls:grin::look::blush:

I usually wear wigs that are a similar texture (straight) but either longer ( i.e. BSL) or short (NL angled bobs). however, lately i have been branching out to wavy and curly styles. I'm yet to have anyone to say they hate them (my friends wholeheartedly believe in "brutal honesty is the best policy":perplexed)

I think as long as you feel comfortable and they dont look wiggy (work on the blending) then its all good!

I was a bit nervous to wear a wig out but I just had to grin and bear it. Turns out a lot of people have a stereotype of a "wig wearer" in their head and if you don't fit that they assume it's your hair or a sew in anyway.

Honestly, it's not that big of a difference. You could have used large rollers or did a large braid twist-out to get that same look. So, I wouldn't worry about it.

My wigs are a dramatic change from my natural hair. I've worn shoulder to mbl length wigs. Curly and straight.

i wear short wigs now, but they are a straight texture. i am natural. yt folks at the job like my wigs better. whatever...

I too wear short straight wigs as a natural. Ever since I've gone natural, I feel weird wearing a curly wig. In a way, I don't want to get used to seeing me with curls when my natural hair does not have uniformed, clumped curls... at all.

I wear wigs all the time but at first I was nervous about wearing them. I tend to wear either yaki textured (long or short) or indian bodywave or natural straight which are a strark contrast but I like what I like. Wig offer variety such as color or textures that I don't do on my natural hair. Try wearing the wig on the weekend while out w/ friends or family and gradually start wearing during the week.

Girl, you gotta do you. I think when I first started wearing them I was more afraid of them falling off or someone yanking it (lol!) more so then the texture. Luckily with lace fronts you can cover your natural hair and it the right ones will look like they are growing out of your scalp. This summer I decided to try something new and go blonde! I got this a few days ago and installed it right away, I've gotten tons of compliments already, wear that wig girl friend!

^^^^ very Pretty!

I use to be concern about what people thought of my wigs. Now, I really don't care.

If anyone asks, just tell them it's a weave. People react weird when you tell them it's a wig.

Oh I love wigs I do..I have worn them since high school so I have no issues..even with my wig falling off at work I just picked it back up and put it back on..no shame in my game..have fun as its the safest way to go from Beyonce blonde to Rihanna red.

I'm wearing a really straight wig now but I'm natural. To make me feel more comfortable, I cut the wig to a tad bit shorter than my real hair so the difference isn't so dramatic.

TBH, the textures of those two wigs don't look that different.

couldn't agree with you more here. since i'm a long term transitioner, i wear weaves every other three months (three months with my own hair, three months in weaves, repeat). i do it to make sure my hair gets a break from stying and to change up the look. i just got into the wig game. a gf of mine i met at work wears a wig year round and she showed me the growth she got in a year under a wig. i was sold. bought a cute short banged bob in LA that weekend.

i always changed color and texture with my weaves. i love the wigs because i can pull them off and get to my scalp at night. at first i was a little apprehensive, but i thought, hell, i've been wearing weaves, what's the difference? i'm in love with it now. ordered a mid back length straight textured lace front and it was too cute. wore it for about two weeks, but with the weather being 85 degrees, and me still getting used to the tape, i went back to the shorty. i will be purchasing an arsenal of wigs in time...

LOVE this.

OP, I know how you feel. I am natural and after having my second baby, there was no time for hair so I wanted to wear a wig. However, it had to be cute and I didn't want it to look too wiggy. I am a teacher so I had to garner up some confidence because my wig was on display everyday. It took me a couple of months, but I searched for the perfect wig that I wouldn't want to take off and if you find something you really like, then you will not need to worry about confidence, it will come naturally.
