How can i texlax? i use just for me regular and wash it out right after application. It comes out (almost) bone straight. I have 4a/b (I think) fine hair. Should i not smooth? Should i use a different relaxer?

My hair is texturized.

I wanted a lot of texture left in my hair. I love WnGs on natural hair but didn't care for the shrinkage so I texturized it.

So I guess my answer to which is better depends on what look you're going for. Most people would cry if they relaxed their hair and ended up with mine. :lachen:

Is Just for me a texturizer? Im 9 months post relaxer and i ONLY wear my hair straight... i wanted to go natural but im starting to think its a mistake if iONLY want to wear it straight... because its a CONSTANT fight!

I think regular is too strong to texlax with. I use mild AND mix it with conditioner, apply, no smoothing and rinse out. My picture is my hair as a wash n go and its also easy to straighten.

A texturizer is just a weak relaxer. You could do the same thing with by using a mild relaxer and applying for just a few minutes.

Looks nice! If I ever texturize i would leave the texture in too!

I voted "texlaxed" simply because I corrected my texturizer and went to texlaxed. I wanted a looser curl that a textuizer couldn't give me. My texturized hair ultimately reacted much like my natural hair when it came to styling, etc so I switched to leaving my relaxer on for 5-6 minutes and now I get more a loose wave than a loose coil.

I am texturized, I agree that the difference depends on the degree of curl you want left in ur hair. IMO they all are relaxers..... the degree of curl left goes in the order texturized...to....texlax......to...bone straight.

ETA: I dont think one is better than the other...it just depends on the look that you want to get.

It's the same thing... :look: So neither one is better than the other. There's really no such thing as texlaxed. That is just term created here on LHCF for women who let a texturizer sit on their hair for a longer time but not long enough to fully relax their hair texture.

I am so confused. I thought the difference between texlaxing and texturizing was a difference in chemical composition. Which is why, I thought, you couldn't let the texturizer even touch previously relaxed hair, because it would just chemically explode or whatever. Meanwhile, you can, in fact, go from texlaxed to relaxed or vice versa because they're the same chemical. I mean, you wouldn't want to overlap, but it wouldn't be an absolute disaster if you did.

I hope this clears up some confusion.

Initially the difference btwn texturizers and texlaxed was a difference in the chemical
When texturizers first came into the chemical composition was guanidine carbonate and calcium hydroxide. Yes this was not allowed to touch previously relaxed hair the same as a jerri curl was not allowed to touch previously relaxed hair.

Then some companies just called a very weak relaxer a texturizer and it contains sodium hydroxide.

NOW

folks can get texturized (closer to the hairs natural curl) and texlaxed hair (closer to straight hair) with the use of sodium hydroxide or calcium hydroxide relaxers.

To answer the OP's question it is a matter of how much curl you want after using the chemical. They are both achieved by using a chemical

I'm texlaxed and I use a lye relaxer for 5-7 minutes mixed with a little conditioner and oil. Then I protein treat, neutralize, rinse (repeat, let it sit, repeat, repeat) and then Deep condition.

I'm a 4a/b and I have some beautiful coils in the back. But the rest of my hair is wavy, not curly. I would never wear a wash n go or wet style - it's just not cute on me.

I have noticed a positive difference since switching to a LYE relaxer. My hair is more moisturized, retains length better and straightens easier. My hair never grew this long while natural - well it did not retain length while natural. I hope this helps someone.

I consider Texturized to be when a person uses a Texturizer (different chemical composition) than a relaxer.

I'm texlaxed!

I use a lye relaxer for about half the time recommended to achieve my results. I still have a lot of texture left; in fact, most people assume I am natural.

When I am asked about my hair, I just say that I am "texturized" because most people IRL have no idea what "texlaxed" means, and I want to avoid a long explanation.

So your hair retains more length now, while being texlaxed? What about before you were natural...how did your hair respond then?
