Naturals, what temperature do you straighten your hair on?

I'm straightening now for the first time since October and my hair has a crimped look at the roots and is kinda puffy

I started with 350 then 375 then 390. It looks a little better but not the sleek look I was going for. So what temp do you use?

P.S I DCed, blowdried, and used heat protectant.

I have a HANA professional and last time I used 375 but it seemed kinda hot to be 375 but thats what it said...

I use between 350 and 370, b/c I like the press to be a little harder, I think the real key in getting a good sleek press, is making sure your hair is well detangled so well you can comb thru with a medium tooth comb without knotting, and to pull you hair while you straighten, the tension makes it straighten easier and sleeker. Not sure if you have heard of this method but the comb chase method helps alot with straightening. Sorry for the long winded post. HTH

I rollerset first and flatiron at 330 (front and back) and 350 (crown) and my hair (kinky 4a) gets straight! I could never blow-dry first because it leaves my hair feeling rough and dry. I highly suggest rollersetting if you want a straight look but lower temp. setting.

OP did you use a comb or brush to chase?

I use my SEDU on 280 and I have learned that it does not matter what temp I use, my hair WILL not lie smooth unless I have some sort of tension applied to the hair

remember technique trumps heat setting when straightening.

i had an old babyliss pro ceramic that broke . i kept it at a 10 (5-25). my old chi causes EXTREME split ends and it goes to 370 i think. using one of those tension combs or the denman thermo brush makes it look straighter like ppg said.

340 using the Sedu Revolution. I always make sure that I have a good blow dry before I start.

It depends on what i am using.if i am using a light oil 365.if i am using a serum 400 and if i am using a pressing oil/grease 340 or less.

I use 430 which is the highest setting on my flat iron. westNDNbeauty has an awesome tutorial that delivers silky straight results. I hope she will post it for you to check out :yep:.

I use the highest setting on my roomies flatiron, which is like 375 or 395?? it doesn't get up to 400. but my hair still gets bone straight.

I use 380.. my sis uses 450 on her leave out hair.. lets prey hair bang makes it those three months.. its also dyed: (

400 with one pass, then when I go over it to curl I'll do like 350 or so. My hair gets straight then starts to revert in like five minutes...but I've only straightened my hair 3 times since growing my hair out, and it's coarse. I'm sure it would have a ball at 450 but I can't risk the heat damage.

I use sabino serum so i use 425 in cold weather and if i press in hot or humid weather (extremely rare) i go up to 450. The comb chase method makes it so i use only one pass. I have a solia.

I mostly do 320F... I may go to 340F at times but not often. I'm using a remington shine theraphy flat iron.
