Sooooo I decided to flat iron today. My ends feel.... sorta ok (a little rough in places) but my growth pattern is weird as heck. My front is staying put.... the back is growing. The sides are growing but slower than the back. I want to cut out of instinct and I'm fighting it since I don't wear my hair straight. But :look: I'm itching to cut.

I just trimmed March 1st with sharp hair shears. I actually cut the top/front a little too short by accident. (DARN YOU TWISTS!!!) soooo yeah. It looks like I cut bangs. Kinky-curly, it looks fine. Straight? Not so much.... at least not to me.

What should I do? Should I wait it out, baby it and leave it alone? Should I cut it down some? What? :ohwell:

I'd say wait it out. You trimmed not too long ago, so you probably don't need to trim and since you rarely wear your hair straight anyway, it's not a big deal if your hair isn't even. I say this because I recently trimmed again even though I had just done the BC, just because I had flat ironed my hair and it looked like it needed to be "evened up". Big mistake on my part since, like you, I rarely wear my hair straight anyway.

You did a nice job. I would say since you normally wear your hair in it's natural kinky curly state, to just leave it alone without cutting. Just keep babying your hair and allow it grow out some more.

Thanks ladies. The last two pics just irk me. :nono:

Just in case anyone's curious. I used my Maxiglide, Maximus products for washing/conditioning/flat ironing, and moisturized with QB's AOHC. My grass is soft and it smells good. :look:

Wait it out and keep wearing it in it's kinky curly state. Some people hate cutting their hair and sacrificing length, but I'm like you when it comes to me just wanting things to be "right." I end up getting scissor happy. I've had to set goals and timeframes of when I'm allowed to cut again.

But then I also say, do what makes you happy!!! If it will make you feel better and you know you won't regret it later, cut it.

Completely agree with this. enjoy having your hair straight and when you wash it out, you wont even remember that your ends gave you cause to pause :yep:

Wait it out. Having a perfect hemline is only important if you intent to rock your hair straight for and entended period. Otherwise leave it be.

Most kinky styles look just fine without perfect ends.

It looks perferctly fine to me, especially for an occassional straight-wearer (if that's an actual word lol). The cut actually looks intentional...if you don't like it, no worries, it'll grow out in no time.

My hair actually grows the same way- fastest in the back, average on the sides, and super super slow in the front (years of heat and relaxer abuse on my "leave-out" hair I suspect).

And Iluvsmuhgrass you know you're wrong for not giving us a back length shot, right?:nono::grin:

Leave it alone. You did a good job flat ironing and it's not as if your trim was a hack job.

btw, I've been meaning to tell you that I love your grass!

Thanks ladies.

bride91501 I DID take one but it was just one side and not really good quality though. Girl I was tired! Even though my grass is fine it's thick, so it took a while to do.

my ends often don't smooth unless i get my hair professionally flatironed.....they will look rough and damaged otherwise though their not. leave them alone and i wouldn't worry about trimming again until sometime btw july-september. your hair came out nice! :)

I think I hear your hair singing MJ's "leave me alone".

I personally never cared about an even fro. Parts that stick out more than others I just get to patting lol. Btw very nice hair:grin:
