Does drying hair cause too much noise in apartments?

Ladies, do you feel bad drying your hair in your apartment early in the morning? By means of a blow dryer or standing/table dryer, I mean. Sometimes I wake up @5 in the morning, all ready to get it done: hard core protein, deep condish, hair wrap and sit under the dryer for 45 minutes to an hour, but I feel bad because of the neighbors. Please tell me this is dumb and give me a couple good reasons why. Okay, they don't even have to be that good, I'm grasping at straws here! :P

Sometimes it's just like a morning workout is for some people. During the day I'm either tired, or plain just feel like doing something, anything else. But then I'm okay to do it in the morning but hold back because of noise.

The walls in my apartment are not thin. I don't hear them and they don't hear me. I'm sure you're fine. How considerate of you to worry about it though....

I can honestly say that I've not given it much thought but I don't generally do my hair very early in the morning, I just do it in the evenings. When I think about it though the dryer is noisy, however it's all give and take because my neighbours aren't the quietest set of people themselves so I don't feel too bad.

Hey, thanks! :D

I've definitely heard (loudly) arguing neighbors and very loud music sometimes but that's probably it!

i honestly wouldnt really care, my neighbor & her kids upstairs sound like elephants running in the jungle every time they take a single step, i would love to turn on 1..or 100 hair dryers in the morning for her:hammer:

I really don't even think about it my neighbor downstairs argue all times of the night and my neighbor next door be having parties in her room which is next to mine

How loud is your dryer? I didn't think they made anymore noise than other household appliances.

Personally I was referring to my portable dryer, which I use a lot just cause I can slouch on the sofa while drying. The upright dryer isn't that noisy at all though.

It's not any louder than a vacuum and those kind of noises are easy to ignore, not like voices or music

I guess I'm a jerk because I wouldn't care if it did bother them...if they are so anal that they get upset that I'm grooming myself, they should buy a house.

girl...say word. why some chick called wanting to complain about her neighbors playing music...on a SATURDAY AFTERNOON AT 230 PM in the summer...in their backyard. oh my little son is sick he needs to sleep.

mind you these folks were both in a private house :lachen:

but if im in my own apartment im not gonna toss my couches around at 1 in the morning but ill use my blow dryer.

i actually find the sound of a dryer to be a little soothing. it used to put me to sleep when my mother used it to get the dampness out of my hair when i was a kid.

When I used to live in an apartment, those kinds of noises were far less annoying that my neighbor who jumped out of bed, in army steel toe boots doing the Riverdance at 5:30 am. :nono:

I think most neighbors (just not the crazy ones) are far more forgiving for those kinds of noises as many can relate to the tasks needed to get ready for work.

Okay? People are doing too much sometimes!

I agree about the dryer being soothing...every time I'm under a hood dryer I fall asleep!!

I've had to dry (with the blow dryer) my hair early in the morning and I think about my neighbors. That's just how I am. I will take the dryer into the living room which is the room furthest away from our bedrooms so that I won't disturb them. I like to live by do unto others. The group of neighbors I have right now are pretty considerate. They are very conscious of the noise they make and I try to reciprocate. (except for my downstairs neighbors, those hicks are TURR-AH-BULL. I hate them.)

I make a smoothie almost every morning for breakfast and it's the last thing that I do before I leave because I don't want to drive anyone crazy with my blender.
