Full-Blooded Siblings With Different Hair Types?

Mom = 3b
Dad = 4a/b
Me = 4a
Sister = 4a
Sister #2 = 3c/4a
Brother = 3c/4a

And everyone in my family is natural so I'm about 99% sure the above is pretty accurate. :)

As others have mentioned, different hair types are common among siblings. My mother was one of 6 full-blooded siblings; hair types ranged from 2b/3a to 4ab. My father was one of 10; hair types range from 2a to 4a. One of my cousins has type 1b/2a hair, while her brother has 3c/4a hair.

Here is a picture showing the two different heads of hair my own children have...

A few women have actually asked me if they have the same father, based on their different hair! :lachen:

Tell them to have their kids pay attention in science class so that they don't have to ask such silly and rude questions. I have no kids but I'd be really annoyed and insulting if someone wanted to assume off the bat that I was having kids by a bunch of different people just b/c they don't understand basic genetics...

My sister is 3ab, and I am 3c/4a. She is the reason that went natural. My hair is not quite like her's BUT I love mine anywho. She has hair closer to my grandmother, who was a 2something. (I think I typed their hair right. I am not good at that.)

im 3c/4a and my brother is 3b/3c

on my dads side theres a wide range of hair types, my dad has 2a/b his sister has 1a/b and his brother is 4a/b

I agree that it's rare for siblings to have the same exact hair type. My SO is a twin and he and his brother have two different hair types. I'd say SO's hair is 3c/4a and his twins is 4b.

I'm a fine 4a like my Dad. My mom is a 4b. My brother is a 4A/B mixture. They both have super thick hair.

Our families are all mixed up though. Most of my Dad's family are 4as or 3cs. They are also known for having very fine hair that's prone to breakage. Most of my aunts keep their hair cut short. I always assumed it was because they couldn't get it to grow out. I don't recall any of them ever having long hair in my lifetime.

My mom's family is known for having very thick, dense, long hair. Most of my mom's family is in the 3s. Most of them do not relax their hair. My Great Granny is in the 2s and has waistlength hair. My Granny is a 3b/3c. There are more 4s in the Grands and Great Grands but most of my mom's generation is in the 3s.

My mom is one of the few 4Bs in her immediate family. It was her and 1 Aunt who is a longtime natural who presses her hair. She said they always got teased about their "short nappy hair" compared to everybody elses. My mom's hair didn't grow long until she was an adult. She said the first time it grew long was when she was pregnant with my younger brother.

While my mom is a 4B, I'd say her sister is maybe 3B/3C. Her daughter is a 4b though. Her hair looks just like my mothers.

Me & my bro's hair type is completely different. He has huge 3a curls-like Taylor Swift (well when he was a toddler, now he rocks a low boy). I have 4a/b curls. Just another mystery of genetics.
