My sister's hair was a 2-something like my mom's--I'm a 3c/4a. Both my brothers have 4b.

I don't have any close-up pics of their hair.

My hair vs. My sister's hair". We are full-blooded siblings.

ETA:I hope you saw my pics OP, I'm taking'em down now. My hair is type 3 and my sis is type 2 hair.

Yeah me and my brothers all have different hair types....Mine is 4b/3c, one brother's is 3a, and the other is basically straight.

My sister
same mother and father has

mainly 3c with a bit of 4a and 3b

I have 4ab hair with. I have a bit of 3c scattered throughout.

Sorry no pics

I'm the eldest of four:

I'm 4a with some 3c sprinkled in and thin/fine
My 1st brother is 3b and thick
My sister is 4a and thick
My baby brother is 4a/b

Also, we are a range of complexions from pale yellow(my youngest bro), yellow-red (me), caramel (my first bro), and dark brown (my sis). Ah, the joy of being a black family. You never know what you're going to get.

For the most part my fams hair type is the same but with some very subtle differences.

Mom is a fine 4b with a 3c patch in the back. Dad is a coarse 4b. I'm a fine 4b with a 4a patch in the crown. My younger brother is a medium coarse 4a.

None would be willing to submit to hair photos though, sorry.

I only have 1 sibling but my mom is one of 12 and b/c hair and skin are polygenic traits and b/c of the ways that genetics works there is a full range of skin and hair. I see the same thing with everyone who has a lot of siblings (no one in the current generations have families that are that big but my grandparents on both sides had lots of siblings by the same parents-all of these extra kids everywhere is a new phenomenon).

If your parents had a lot of kids you'd see a lot more of the genetic variation that exists in them. I wish I did have a snapshot of their high school graduations photos through the years b/c there is every kind of hair and of course a good sampling of hairstyles from the 60's, 70's, and 80's. (Giant fros, 60's flips, bouffants, etc).

I only have one sister...our hair is pretty similar but I consider that to be more unusual that common.

Yep, that's how my girls are too. My oldest is very fair and my youngest is my chocolate drop!

I wish more people realized this. My mom is one of 8. They range in color (from jet black to almost white) and hair type (from 2 to 4b). It's amazing. Thing is, they all look alike to me!

I'm 3A, my sister is 3C/4A
My hair didn't get curly until I went through puberty before that it was type 2

Yep so true! My moms 1 of 10 and my dads 1 of 7. And there's a whole rainbow going on there with the skin color, hair, and eye colors.

In response to the hairstyles...don't forget the JHERI CURL hehehe I loooove those pics. All you gotta do is walk down my hall and see all the pictures and the hair damage from jumping to large fro's to apl jheri curls to short (halle berry short) perms...from jumping to chemical to chemical b/c of some naive beautician :spinning:

My 3 siblings are full blooded (with eachother, but not with me lol) and they have three different hair types.

I think it's very common to have different hair types as siblings.

I have never really seen my brother's hair to be able to tell, but my sisters all have 4A hair, with my youngest sister having a bit of 3C mixed in. Generally speaking, we're all in the type 4 range with varying degrees of coils; mine range from penspring coils to pencil-sized, while my sisters are pencil and pen-sized coils. Also, the strands of my hair are medium to fine, while one sister has truly coarse hair and the other has medium to fine as well. :yep:

Truth be told, we all have the same hair type: FLY AND FRESH TO DEATH!!! :yep:

Oh, no, I left the Jheri Curl out b/c NONE of my many aunts and uncles ever went there. I think that they all found that one to universally be a no go thank goodness, so none of them have any awful pictures like that. They are from down south but always had a pretty good sense of style.

The ones who were the right age and had the right kind of hair had some impressive fros though. And yes, you see the variety b/c some of them couldn't have made a fro with their hair no matter what. My favorite pics is one who graduated in the mid 70's. I think that seeing her made me ignorant of the fact that a lot of people back then were rocking wigs to have big fros.

My two sisters and I have pretty similar hair textures. My father is 1 of 3 also; his brothers have 3b hair and he is a 4a

My cousins that are 2 and 3. The boy(3) is a fine haired 3b MBL and the little girl is a fine haired 3c/4a. The thing that really throws people for a loop is that the little boy is much darker (ala Djimon Honsou) and the baby girl is Beyonce's color.

Same parents, they are identical in everything but color and hair texture.

I never thought about it until this moment but my two older sisters are full blooded... They both have 4a/b one has more b than the other but basically the same. I'm 3c/4a no full blooded siblings to compare to. My niece has 3c and hair little brother has 4b/c her other brother has 4a/b and her baby brother has 3c/4a. Thats so interesting good post OP

My sister has a weird hair type. It's not curly but It doesn't really shrink either. It's waves a little. My sister effortlessly grows superlong hair. My brother has 3c hair. Most of my hair is 4a, but I have the same texture my sister has at the very front of my head.

me and my brother have different hair types.

there's no current pix cause my brother is balding and he shaves his head lol
as for baby pix. all the photo albums are in storage and i'm to lazy to get up (storage unit is attached to my apt lol)

In my experience, it seems rare for two siblings to have the EXACT hair type.

Siblings are definitely more likely to have different hair types. Every siblings that I can think of (other than identical twins) mostly have totally different hair type.

my mom 3c/4a (coarse), my dad 3c/4a (medium/fine)

me = 4a, sprinkle of 3c (medium), sis = 4a/4b (fine), nieces = 4a, sprinkle 3c
