I remember this is what you wrote on my thread when I mentioned shaving mine...

It didn't turn out jacked up and I rather loved it. I'm not bald anymore though. Moustacy, I think that you could just rock it like that or just shave it all. I loved the look and it was liberating, even though people thought I was nuts.

It's all love...

You thought if you shaved your hair off [even though your already a natural] it would grow in differently.

Seriously :look:

Girl, why didn't you just use some breast milk on the side you didn't like. You didn't have to look like you were preparing yourself for surgery. Damn!

Anyway, it'll grow back. Please don't tell people IRL that's why you shaved it. Tell them you fell down the stairs or something.

:dead: :dead:

New hair is of COURSE going to be different than hair that's been exposed to the elements, chemicals, etc. for years.

OP, I hope you get what you want out of this. However, just from reading this thread and others, I think you need to take some time and figure out exactly what that is. Good luck.

Your hair will not grow back any differently. The shape of your hair follicles determines what your hair grows in like...and that is what it is.

Leave your hair alone and deal with what you got.

lol I didn't have a plan and I meant I was going to shave my WHOLE head not just the one part. I started then was like WTF and stopped lol Has nothing to do with the one half head hair thing that cassie has or whatever...To be honest I wanted to see if it would grow in differently..The left side is more loose than the right I should have done that side instead but I wouldn't have been able to see it right. So far I've been covering it with headbands and megatek'n it twice a day lol It's already growing back though which is a good thing.

I too am confused as to how the hair will be different? If that is the case, wouldn't your roots have looked different too? I know some people BC again when they think they have scab hair but if that is the case the hair would have started to grow out differently anyway once the follicles are healed. Shaving the hair isn't going to allow it to grow differently...

hey, what's scab hair?

I remember when I was growing up....There was an old wives tale that if you shaved your head, the hair would grow back thicker, faster and with a looser curl pattern..

Maybe the OP grew up hearing that.

I have to admit that I did want to try it when I was younger  ...then I realized it was a load of garbage because when I would have the back of my hair shaped up, my coarse 4B hair never transformed into silky 2B. Can you say disappointed?!!?!?

hey, what's scab hair?

No one knows if scab hair actually exists or not, but I think it does. It apparently occurs when the hair follicle has been damaged (under the scalp) due to relaxers, so even when you stop putting chemicals on it, the hair may be drier and need extra attention. When I first went natural I had this spot in the back of my head and the hair was always drier and fuzzier there, and it was the exact spot where I would always burn my scalp with my relaxer (like to the point where it scabbed over and oozed :nono:). I concentrated on conditioning that area more and now it acts like the rest of my hair.

OP honestly when I cut my hair nearly bald as pictured in my avi, my hair texture does seem different now. Maybe thats because I am actually starting with healthy hair now as well as my practices. When I first went natural I had no clue on how to take care for it & with all the flat ironing I did the curl pattern was looser.

Its actually not as bad as alot of people are making it out to be. You can easily cover your hair or wear beret caps until the shaven area has grown in somewhat, from there it will be easier to cover. Do a swoop bang and make an updo or something.

Please dont shave the rest of your hair off if its something you are not fully prepared for. Its not that serious to shave it off!

I bought a few gallons of breast milk from some of my neighbors. DC'd overnight, did a protein treatment, then used some of it as a leave-in. The results were remarkable!

Can't you see my enthusiasm?

This is just...*sigh* I had no idea it was that serious. People are really doing this?!

Uh y'all missed me with the bs jokes..furthermore it was not about trying to get a "new" texture the texture before I shaved it was fine thanks so please spare me with the unnecessary noise. Again when I bc'd I always liked the right side better than the other. The other side waved more than curled me shaving my right side isn't about growing in thicker or going from 4a to 3b and even if it did what good would that do me in one spot? It would just be another texture to add to my head to make it even more different. I posted the picture not for style ideas, not to be reminded of how cassie did it, not to be told I look like I have alopecia or about to have surgery (though disses hold no weight), or to be told about "swag" I'm 27 years old swag is not in my vocab so what I would appreciate is less assumptions and more answers as far as what I'm doing to grow it back I'm thinking megatek will be fine for now should I also avoid laying on my right side or if I do make sure to wear a satin cap?

But you didn't say that in the op. You asked, what can I do? To which people responded, prolly not much at this point but shave off the rest. If you had said you wanted to grow it back, the whole tone of the thread would have been different.

I also answered what I was doing to it and planned on doing with it pages before the added bs. The original post was done from my phone and I forgot about it and saw the madness when I got home which is when I responded. Had I remembered about the thread I would have killed it real quick.

You can go to barber and get him to shape it up. If you want a shaved side go for it. You only live once and you will have that hair forever. Take care.

I didn't respond because I didn't know what was being asked. And when the jokes took off I knew to keep it moving. Not that I don't have a sense of humor, it's just that some of it was beyond a bit much. *kanyeshrug*

:look: But I did :giggle: at Charz breast milk siggy though. Dave Chappelle will forever be engraved in my mind as P. Diddy. I went through that entire skit in my head. Breaaaaaaaaast miiiiiiiilk, you made my daaaaaaaaaaaaay. :look:  :look: #dontjudgeme

Moustacy
How long ago did you shave your head that you can already tell its growing back?
