Thick and coarse strands here :)

One thing I use to hate was getting extensions because I would always need so much hair and ended up looking like cousin it :ohwell:. Nobody else needed 7-8 packs of hair for pixie braids but I did. So much hair I couldn't even wear them in a ponytail...

^I never knew just how thick my hair was until I went natural, Now I can see why I needed so many packs of hair and looked foolish....

there were times where I complained about how thick my hair was....I wanted thinner hair but now I have learned to embrace my hair. It is a big hassle to detangle and style, it can take 6-8 hours or more on some days :nono: but I know I would be upset if my hair ever got thinner...I really do enjoy the fullness...

Coarse hair strands....I use to hate those too....but now I love my thick hair strands...I have learned that these thick hair strands are very durable and it takes a whole lot for them to break...the biggest challenge is keeping them moisturized though....it is a battle between, is that my texture, or is my hair dry....I always use to confuse the two...

When I was natural I had a simple regimen for my thick super dense hair, I washed every two weeks dced and blowdried then I twisted my hair all over and that was it, I enjoyed the gradual shrinkage. I used mineral oil (blue magic) and never dc and I had apl hair. This time I am transitioning back to my natural hair and I can't wait especially now I have aubrey organics and shea butter to ease my path. Thank you for this thread:drunk: subscribing!

Wow this an old thread I wrote this two years ago and I am transitioning again!

I know about the cousin it look, people would charge me extra to do my hair so I would end up doing it myself over a week!

I too have course strands and some fine strands. I really see the difference. My fine/medium strands can not take chemicals and break after abuse whilst my course hair just gets dryer with abuse but will not fall out. Also my hair loves heat! Controversial but true I am afraid.

Okay, this sounds just like me! I never knew I even had fine strands because they all must have broken off or "fell out" because they couldn't take the abuse...

Even after all of the coloring and perming, my coarse hair was very resistant. Of course I had breakage, but I still managed to have around shoulder length hair the whole time...it's amazing actually :ohwell: I should be bald with thinned out edges with all of the tight braids and and abuse that was done to my hair in the past...
