LOL its nothing special becuase they think its a weave becuase black girls dont know their real hare around my parks LOL.

but my SO loves my hair but is mad that its BSL (acually its 2inches past BSL) when it used to be WL.

ETA: he told me this when i cut it "i dont want you to be like the rest of these bald headed black girls around here"

his family sings praises to my hair all the time, espeically his mom.

Depends on the man. Some men really don't care as long as it looks good and in place. Other men I know really don't like the weave thing so when he sees a BW with hair past APL, they seem to be more into their girl or brag if that makes any sense. My BF gets upset because about I wasn't letting my hair grow out but now that it's growing he plays around in my hair more than when it was NL. (well not right now since I'm in a sew-in:lachen:)

A certain mix of appreciation and bragging...Cutie pie I was kicking it with had his hands in my hair the first 10 minutes of us meeting at the bar when I was scraping MBL..
Him:"This all you?"
Me:" Yes"
Him: "Nice, I love it, its so pretty"..*proceeds to run hands thru with it without asking* (but it was okay because he was cute)
Him: "You take of you hair like that?" "Thats good, its sooo long"

Ex-bf would brag to anyone within earshot about my hair..I caught him telling his mama how I put "a bunch of stuff" in my hair, and its all mine and how soft and healthy it was..She then approached me and hit me with a length check somethin fierce.
We were at a wedding with a group of friends and we were talking about quick weaves and how some are so obvious..
Ex-bf: "See this?" *pointing to my hair*
"Thats all hers homey, all hers", while grinning and stroking my strands...

They like that, Im telling you! Our hair is definitely an extension of ourselves...Im am not my hair, but....the men I've spoken to would rather prefer women who didnt wear weaves and just took care of their own hair.

I want somebody with some unhealthy, stringy, cracklin, broken off, nasty lookin MBL hair to come in and report. I bet they (BM) still love it

My DH loves my natural hair--the length doesn't do anything for him.

I don't know how other black men feel about it, I could care less

just stoppin through!

Anybody that knows me knows that "hatin" just isn't in my spirit, but I'm definitely on the verge in this thread lol. I'm too new in my journey to respond OP........tis all lol.

*back to lurk mode

Thanks for the responses ladies, I'm hoping to hit BSL this year (I'll be in total shock as I've always been between SL and APL), so I was just wondering...

On FB a couple of black guys are always talking about how bald black women are underneath their weaves and it bugs me..if only they knew!

I get a lot of "don't ever cut your hair!!!!" request from old and young black men. A lot of younger ones tell me that their mom's hair use to be long like mine until she cut it.

Sad but true, most men love long hair. Not all, but most I've heard plenty of them say it. My grandmother told me when I was little to never cut my hair I was 8 or 9.

Wow, just wow! If DH ever parted his lips to make a statement like that it would set off a war of the worlds in our household!:nono:

They stare, ask if it's all mine and then they ask how I manage with all of it. Some actually want details. One last week just stared all up in my head. I think he was looking for tracks but he didn't say anything . I was just amused.

It is a slippery slope. They get giddy; but, it gets maddening because they focus on my complexion and it gets creepy.

I mean as hair "obsessed" as I am as a woman I can only imagine if I were a guy things wouldn't change for me lol. I would want my girlfriend/wife to have long/healthy/fly hair too. So I can understand men wanting their girlfriends/wives to have long/healthy/fly hair because dammit it looks good! Let’s keep real! But I would never put her down (if i was a dude) or any other black women who didn't have it.

Being a woman with long healthy hair...its like icing on a cake, a glaze on a honey ham, Frank's Hot Sauce on some home fried chicken...you get my drift! It don’t make you more or less of a woman it’s just an extra "condiment" that just adds that much more flavor to your already delectable deliciousness that makes you, YOU! *looks*

Long hair on a black woman is like seeing a black man from the hood with his pants pulled up with a belt on...you know it exist, you just ain't never seen it, and when you do see it you are in AWE!

aint nuttin like great smelling hair...something about a woman with great smelling hair is like cryptonite for a man...

all i care about is that my hair is healthy and thriving...and that big sighhh of euphora that dh does when we embrace...

:kneel: I agree with you, its just a lil extra somethin, somethin

When I wear my hair out, men will say my hair is pretty and some will ask why I wear weaves. I'll tell some people that I'm growing my hair to my butt, some I'll just tell them that I'm lazy and that I don't always feel like doing my hair. I love when I rock my natural hair because it's funny to see different peoples reactions, but I feel an extra sense of pride when a black man looks at me at first glance and becomes pleasantly surprised at me wearing MY hair out; and has a look of "Awe" on his face :)
