Hey everyone!

I am just really curious about this, and would like to start doing this, but need a bit more information and to decide on a good recipe for myself.

How did you either decide on a recipe and why? Which ones are really good? Why rinse over acv? personal experiences and long term affects wanted too.

Thanks :)

Every rinse has its own purpose. For example, tea rinses are supposed to help with reducing hair loss due to the caffeine. Amla can darken hair and enchance curl patterns. ACV rinses help keep hair in its natural acidic state.

So I don't think it is about what you like as much as what your hair needs.

I;m not sure about acidicy (how acidic to be), but I generallyam not into anything too acidic as it can be drying for me and itchy.

I know of amla darkening and enhancing curl pattern but would you make a rinse with amla and water? Is that all?

I am wondering if there are a bunch of recipes listed where we could see and decide on our own needs based on that.

Hair and skin are naturally 4.5 - 5 on the ph scale which is acidic.

I think to get the most out of tea and ayurveda rinses it is best to just use the herbs or powder as oil and other additives can cause barriers that prevent all the goodness from getting in, but I would say mix it however you like. You should be able to find a million different recipes if you do a search but the recipes are going to be like any hair recipe - mixing ingredients based on their properties and what you want them to do for your hair.

Rinses are basically just an ingredient and water.

Thanks!! I appreciate your input.

I have to def agree with you on the oil aspect. You are getting the benefits of oiling, massaging it in (good blood circulation) and giving the herbs in the oil time to sit and saturate into the scalp and hair.

But the rinses....I am just curious as to why one decides on it. Because how long does any rinse really sit and stay on the hair? It's like running it through right?

My recipe: black tea mixed with nettle and horsetail steeped overnight. Loooves!!

What has this done for your hair? I know the black tea helps with shedding, I plan on doing one this weekend. But how has your hair benefited from the nettle and horsetail?

I used to do ayurvedic rinses.
1 tbs amla powder
1 tsp brahmi powder
1 tsp aritha/shikakai powder

I brew them in a coffee maker...I put it in a filter. I had water & pour it over my hair as a co-wash
