Does anyone trim their own hair?

I trim my own hair. I blow dry my hair as straight as possible. Then part my hair into 4 large sections, 2 in the front & 2 in the back. Next I part small sections horizontally and use a comb to even the hair section. I hold the section of hair in between my index finger & middle finger and snip away :) for the back of my hair I will pull the smaller section to the side so I can see it better but with out letting the section of hair become uneven. For the crown area sometimes I pull each smaller section straight up so I can see it in the mirror then snip. Each time I trim I will cut 1/2" or less.

Thanks ladies. So I did it last night! and quite impressed with the results.

I used really good hair cutting scissors that I purchased yesterday and a small-ish comb.

I started off by blow drying after a wash and deep condition.

I then followed the tips in the video Cocosweet posted.

I'm happy with the result! Will post pics a bit later this evening. The only problem is that the right side of my hair grows faster than the left and the trim tidied the ends but didn't sort out the level difference and I don't think i',m skilled enough for that yet.

I saw the Creaclip being used on youtube quite a lot. Does anyone use this? I'm thinking of getting one. That way I can do my hair cuts and trims at home and as i'm transitioning, not have to visit the hairdressers again (or for a long time at least)

ETA: I See you did it already . Glad it turned out well! :)

I just got finished trimming my hair!

So, all I do is section it off like I do when flat ironing section by section. I then cut off the amount I want to trim, section by section. It works well :) My hair has layers.

Good luck girlie!!

Glad it went well. I've been cutting my hair for 2-3yrs now (practice has been key). I prefer to do it on straight hair (I do the section method) but I'm going to start doing it on curly hair when its in smaller twists.

If I could use the creaclip on curlie hair I would buy that to make it faster.

I trim my own hair (well use to. I stopped trimming on a regular basis in September 2010). I just do it as I am twisting/braiding my hair....
