Well let me say I'll be happy to.take some G3, Fruit Cocktail and Avocado off your hands. Avocado is my favorite so far when co washing. I wonder what the expiration dates are.cause mine say 2/2011 so I'll be cowashing all month to get rid of my 3 Jaborandis.

So I can get this at my local Big Lots huh?

Hm...I may have to check it out if its only a dollar. They may be able to replace my Shea Moisture, CantuShea, and Suave shampoo and condish.

The skalaheads depleted Big Lots months ago ... you are going to have to join the posse riding out to lasso BreeNique :lachen::lachen:

If it's any left, girl shelves went empty a while back and noone has seen Skala in a while.

I think theres hope. People in my area arent really into hair care like that en mass. I'll go look today just for the hell of it.
I cured myself of my PJism 2 years ago when I tallied my product expenditures for hair and when it surpassed $300 I made a vow not to buy one other thing until I used EVERYTHING up. I have me and 2 other DDs heads to do and I am JUST now starting to buy new stuff.

the bold ... I used Nexxus Humectress for years. Then I started to use henna weekly and increased oil rinses to handle the dryness. I could get a shopping cart of Skala for the price of a gallon of Nexxus. I fell asleep with red palm oil in my hair last night and a half jar of skala dc and a half bottle of conditioner did the dirty work this morning. Skala is a cheap workhorse and saves money if you wash often or have several heads to take care of. I am looking forward to my next cheapie, but it won't cost a dollar ... maybe $3 :yep:

and because she stated that this is only a portion of her stash.
No, I think it's because the OP herself (in the title and throughout the thread) stated that it is a problem. She isn't just showing her stash and saying she's happy with it - she's saying she thinks it's too much.

Brionna of BreeNique here!
Yes, Monique will be hooking me up with products before I go back to Boston! This week we're gonna take pics of the ENTIRE stash. i've seen worse, too!! But its all realative i guess. she doesn't have a problem, she just LOVES A GOOD DEAL.
...ok. denial.
she's sick.

Hello ladies, I see that my "little" cousin has let the "cat out the bag". If I had known this before, I wouldn't have brought her dinner tonight! I'm really a pj and I need help/intervention. I told myself that I wasn't going to buy anything in 2011 and before I knew it, I was at walmart buying aloe vera juice and target buying Herbal essences long term relationship (only for the free leave in). I've (monique) have been lurking for awhile and the bad thing about this is that my cousin is really picking up some of my good and bad habits (hair products). Like Brionna mentioned earlier, I will reveal the whole stash. I'm waiting on my packages from carols daughter, folica, bear fruit hair, karens beautiful body, ebay and jbco, hopefully they will be here for the viewing. I'm also trying not to go to sallys to get the bogo free on roux products. Sally's already think that i'm crazy, because they could never keep creme of nature conditioner packets in stock (the one with the argan oil). The whole month of December, everytime the stock this conditioner, I would go and by 2-20 packets for 1.00. What's worse is that alot of this products, I haven't tried, but because someone on this forum reviewed or commented on the product, before you knew it, I was either ordering it or trying to find it locally. HHHHHHHHEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPP! BTW, no my hair is not to my ankles, Im almost apl.

I would like to thank everyone who replied with suggestions and comments. I'm really going to try not to buy anything else this year. I do have anything products to last me for years and with all these products it's hard for me to find my staple products. I cowash twice a week and shampoo once a week. I deep condition 3x with heat, so hopefully with this regimine I should be able to use alot of my products (if I don't buy anything else)..

Okay well even though I'm not surprised by your stash, the fact that it can possibly expire soon like other users have stated is a bit of a problem — all the money spent would basically be down the drain. It's a good thing there's two of you because that will help finish all of the products that have been bought. Your regimen seems pretty good, if both of you can get on the same routine, I'm sure your collection will shrink dramatically and you both will have beautiful hair in the process.
Try not to buy anything new since you already have enough products to last you a while. You can both even make a little game out of it by splitting the products down the middle and whoever finishes their stash first gets a reward like a spa day or a few dinner dates at the loser's expense. If you don't want to do it like that (maybe because you don't have duplicates of every product and you want to try some of the newer items that you only have one of) you can still both try to use up all of it and at the end treat yourselves both to a reward for all the hard work of clearing out all those hair products.
Another alternative is a gift basket; you can give a post-Christmas or New Years gift with what you have. Try giving family members, friends, co-workers a nice and neat shampoo, conditioner, moisturizer, oil combo. If not, a three or four Skala conditioner set. It's great because females love beauty products, you get rid of some of the extras that you don't need, and someone that maybe you felt should have gotten gift initially now gets one.
Lastly, you can give away those products or sell them on LHCF. You've already gotten tons of offers and I'm sure people who have not stated that they want some of your items will be happy to take some anyway. Donating will make both you and the receiver feel good; selling will earn back some of the cash you've spent on what you got impulsively which will allow you to feel accomplished and relieved, it will be a fair trade.
All is not lost, you just need to be clever with the ways you try to eliminate the excess; savvy and careful the next time you have disposable income to spend at the BSS/drugstore. Remember that products will ALWAYS be there to try and sales will always come back. Even if you really want to try the "next big thing" make a note of it and only buy one since you don't know if that product will work for YOU. A product might only work for people with relaxed hair or 3a/b type hair. Even if a product works for someone with the same hair type it could still be more intricate than that because that person's hair might be more cottony, thick, thin, or silky; the list and the differences between everyone's hair goes on and on — we are all individual and unique. I know when someone's a newbie to haircare or a newbie to this site or both, the wealth of information at your finger tips is overwhelming and can make the person excited to such an extent that they go out and spend money to try out different things because of what they've learned. One must remember though that later on they probably won't even need 25 conditioners, 26 moisturizers, etc. They may just need 2-10 things out of all their loot and that's good enough. Think long term because later on (especially if/when you get to your goal length) you might be thinking, "Wow I could've really used that money for something else!"
Anyway, I hope I helped, I know my post was lengthy. :drunk:

These are all excellent suggestions. :)

Women's shelters are always in need of personal hygiene items. Maybe you can use what you can and donate the rest.

Hey...lets look at the brighter side. If they happen to stop selling any of those brands you won't be SOL. Then everyone on the board will be PMing you to dip into your stash. If it's not killing your pockets, why not?
:dance7:

I was actually wondering the same thing. What is the big deal with Skala? And why didn't I see it the last time I went into Big Lots? *pause* Ohhh... Just realized why...

GIRL!!!! flashbacks isnt the word! lol i think i went back in time for a minute or 2 and had a panic attack lol.

I think you, like me and others fall in love with the packaging. It's got nice bright colors and cute shaped bottles. Looks like inventory to me. Girl sell that stuff on ebay or amazon for half price and get some money. Perhaps you can turn this into a business, like finding rare or hard to find haircare products and sell them.

I read the comments before the pictures loaded and was expecting much worse. This is not as bad as others are making out, especially since you have several of the same product (staples), which I'd assume is because you stock up when they are on offer. I have seen way worse on here - with cupboards, drawers and storage boxes overflowing with almost every single holy grail product raved about in the history of LHCF.

ETA: Just noticed your comment about revealing your whole stash. Well, until I see it, I still stand by my earlier statement.
