Well done, I have had the same problem before but if you are consistent with looking after them they will be back to best soon :)

Great progress!
I need a plan for me and DD's edges. Ever since going natural, they are easy to break off. It happened so quickly that I am at a lost of what to do.

Congratulations!!! Edges are so delicate, and it can be so hard to get them to flourish. That's okay if it's taking longer than you thought it would- slow and steady wins the race. Keep it up.

i've had this problem from wearing super tight braids and it just came to a point where my edges were gone. so i've had to just stop and leave them alone so they could grow.

i noticed people have been trying to grow there edges for years and i'm glad this website helped so i wouldn't have to try so much stuff. even tho i am still buying products i see what i'm using now works its just a slow process.

& slow and steady wins the race: thanks

Hey Ladies...

I haven't check back in so I want to share some new photos of my edges... left side is on the right path, I just hope the right side gets on that same path. I have been wearing braids, but I don't braid my edges, because they are too weak.

I don't use sulfur 8 and minoxidil any more because I ran out...

But I still faithfully rub my JBCO & Dr. Miracles mix on my edges every morning & night & leave Mega-Tek on for conditioning once a week, plus I just started using Mane & Tane conditioner every other 3 days and its working too.

oops, that was from my cell phone, so those are typos. I was using similar mix to yours but with mn and castor/emu/jojoba/peppermint oil mix I made. In other words a very oily mix. I noticed nothing was really happening to my edges except that they were more oily. So I came across some threads that mentioned a similar mix but with aloe vera gel (100% pure or 98%) as the base to your mix (or aloe vera alone). I simply squeezed some of my Lily of Valley aloe gel into the mix I already had. I've only been doing this for about two weeks, so I will wait to report the results. So far, it feels alot better. At first I was using the aloe vera by itself and massaging my scalp with it, that also felt great for the first week. So really, i've only been doing it a week with the full mix

Let me know how it works i'm open to trying new things, that work. I'm getting a lot of progress, because at first I was bald, but now some hairs are growing back.

I have the same problem. I have since i was a child. I finally got up enough courage to get the injections. My edges are finally growing back. I thought those follicles were dead. I am also using Rogaine. My derm told me to use the men's version as well.

my hair line in the front is the same way =/ from tight ponytails and ithink that stoopid relaxer burned them!:cry2:

idef think the JBCO is helping your edges fill in  its helping miine lol keep it up!

even thought it is looking much better so you think you can cut back on some of that protein and use more moisture? if they keep breaking it could be because of the protien. and maybe trying to leave the braids alone all together and try just bunning and co washing your hair no brushing at all. see how that works for you.

I went to see a derm back in July and she told me that it looked as if my follicles weren't dead, because there was still some growth. She told me to use the minoxidil which was like roganie, but it was regular strength. I am going to make a follow up appt. with her to see what she thinks now, because everyone told me the injections work.

Yeah I've never been the girl to comb my hair I always wore braids and they just pulled my poor little sides out :nono:. But the JBCO is a big help, because its growing my egdes back and its going thicker and not as thin and weak.

I wanna trully cut back on the braids, but I don't want to wear a ponytail or bun, because then my sides would be out and I would look like I'm missing so much hair (even tho I am, I try to hide it :ohwell:) I do know that when I get full weaves it help, because I leave my sides out. The reason I was in braids was because i was taking a swimming class and I didn't know what else to do with my hair. Do you know of any hair styles that would hide my edges and be good for my hair?

They are called Corticosteroids. They are anti-inflammatory drugs that suppress the immune system. They can be given as injections into the areas of hair loss, taken as pills, or rubbed into affected areas. Steroid injections every 3-6 weeks are given directly into hairless patches on the scalp, eyebrow, and beard areas. Hair growth usually begins approximately 4 weeks after the injection. :yep:

Wonderful progress. I've just started taking care of mine. The culprit-years of wrapping.
