When you're an LHCF newbie who's set a seemingly unattainable goal of growing super long hair, even though you wanna have faith that it can happen, it's easy to think that *maybe* you'll be the exception to the rule; maybe all your research, hard work, etc. will be for nothing. God knows this was me when I first joined, but I'm ready to give my testimony today!!

Currently, my hair is the longest it's EVER been, and I'm so proud of my progress since BC'ing 6 1/2 months ago. Thanks to this awesome community of women who have FREELY shared tips, offered advice, & rooted for me even when I was ready to throw in the towel, I developed a sound reggie based on MY hair's needs (and stuck to it) and began to have faith that my hard work would pay off. And it's starting to. THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH for your examples, advice and support. December 2012- Here I come!

I'm definitely inspired! That's great growth and retention. How long was your transition before you BC'ed?

I love seeing progress like this! Congratulations! You're making beautiful progress. At this rate, you'll be contending with the BSL/MBL crew by the end of 2011. :yep:

:congrats: Calling your progress impressive is an understatement. Your retention is crazy! Can't wait to see your next update :yep:

My last relaxer was in October 2009, and I randomly BC'd on May 31 2010. I "transitioned" in braids and sew-ins, although I had no idea at the time what transitioning meant and was just winging it till I decided what I was gonna do with my hair. Thank God I found LHCF just a couple of days after my BC....

Thanks for all the kind words ladies

Wow, great progress! I love your natural texture. That ponytail picture really showcases how well you've been caring for your hair - no breakage, full nape and edges, and uniform thickness from the base to the end of the ponytail. :yep:

Absolutely wonderful progress!!! You are already inspiring people...bump Dec 2012!!!! Go you!!! :bouncy: :bouncy: :bouncy:

Mkay... so will you post your reggie or WHAT?!... great job and CONGRATS!!!

Thanks, PNP. I realized early on from my research that although it's a bit controversial around here, most Type 4s have to learn to love PSs to see the type of super-long growth I wanted. So, instead of fighting it, I've embraced it  Here's the reggie:

Fall/Winter: PS in cornrows under wigs using Lady P's DMM for 4 weeks at a time, M & S daily, apply sulfur oil mix to scalp every other day (just started in November), CW 1-2x/week. Poo, light PT & henna at braid take-down. Rebraid for 4 weeks.

Spring/Summer: (instead of wigs/cornrows) PS in small twists for 3 weeks at a time, twist-out/buns for 1 week. Everything else is the same :look:

Staple products: V05 MM, SheaMoisture leave-in (LOVE this stuff), juicing, ceramide oils, castor oil, shea butter (to seal my ends), Jamila henna (best thing I've done for my hair so far)

For all the inspiration that you feel you've gotten from other ladies here.....Just know that you're one of mine now :)

Congrats on the progress so far - can't wait to see how far you'll go!

To be honest, I've been having this exact problem highlighted here :(. I feel so unlucky, but I shan't give up! Thank you for the encouragement OP :), and like I told your earlier, I'm in awe at your progress :wow:
