Now I have to wonder why this didn't work for my hair:perplexed . Any 4b naturals wanna share how they use the AOHC?

Not everything has to work for you. I have tried the Heavy cream and the Burdock root cream. I kinda liked the heavy cream, but it gave me hair the heavy "wet" feeling. Then I tried Burdock root, it is alright but I think I can find a better moisturizer. I just wanted to LOVE it so much, because the company is reputable and I wanted to support a black business. I still may go back again because I am a fail like that!

We can be in the boat together. haha

I am Relaxed. So for me, I ended up using the products at various times during my Stretch.

I realized the AOHC and the Ghee worked best on my hair at about week 6+ and the OHHB and BRBC I could basically use all throughout adjusting the amount(s).

Personally, I had to adjust how I used them (how much & when) to get the maximum benefit of the product for my hair. :yep:

IMO: Being Relaxed, you have to be able to balance your products with where you are week-wise with Your Relaxer.:yep:

Oh I def. realize that it doesn't have to work for me, I ask because I have the BRBC sitting in my closet and would like to give Qhemet another try before writing it off.

I don't think I am a 4b, likely a 4a but I tell you my hair hated the one you mentioned. But on the other hand my hair loves the burdock root butter cream with a capital l. Have you tried that one?

I haven't tried the Burdock Root yet but the heavy cream was very moisturizing.

I can totally relate, these products certainly didn't work for me either. I realized that due to the glycerin in the AOHC and BRBC my hair would feel dry during this current winter season. I believe her products are just for spring and summer.

thats funny b/c i was thinking about waiting until next fall/winter b/c i heard alot of ppl prefer to use her creams/butters in the winter b/c they're so heavy...i didnt even notice they had glycerin in them though

Yeah, I bought sample sizes of both the AOHC and BRBC. I still have some of the BRBC left, cos I'm guessing the one time I tried it on my hair it didn't wow me, so I wasn't compelled to use it after that.

That's strange. I use AOHC in the winter because its the only thing that keeps my hair from becoming dry. Different strokes for everybody.

Can you tell me what products you used that's better? I am in awe of Qhemet products.

Shampoo:
I first used Qhemet's Egyptian Wheatgrass Cleansing Tea, and it made up hair feel stiff as if I was using harsh chemicals like sulfates.

With Alaffia, I used the Beautiful Culrs:Shea Butter Curl Enhancing Shampoo which actually MOISTURIZED my 4b hair and made it feel very soft.

Although I really like both Burdock Root Butter Cream and the Amla & Olive Heavy Cream, I think the Virgin Coconut & Shea Enriching Hair Lotion from Alaffia is better at moisturizing.

You see, one of my problems with Qhemet moisturizing products is that it leaves white stuff in my hair. You know when you apply products, and no matter how much you moisturize it in, a white film continues to show? That always happened to me with Qhemet. And although the hair would feel very soft for the first two hours, it would make my hair stiff later.

I'm thinking my hair might have a porosity issue. How do you all apply it without leaving white stuff in your hair?

I stocked up and none of it worked for me. I really wanted to love it, but my hair rebelled.

YMMV

Lol yeah I did sample sizes cos I know my hair be acting snobbish towards products. Oh well. The search continues. For now, I'll stick with my mix of kCKT sealed with oyin burnt sugar pomade.

qhemet line is good but not the best for MY hair. i prefer oyin and kbb over qhemet as far as moisture goes. oyin dew and whipped pudding is better for me than the heavy cream and kbb butter is good too. the brbc was just ok for me. i do however love the detangling ghee. its very moisturizing and last winter the heavy cream and detangling ghee made a perfect braid out combo for me.
maybe i need to go back to that because my braid outs suck now.

but i would still take oyin over it. only reason i wouldnt take kbb over it now is because their cs sucks.

I'm currently using the Alaffia Shea and Coconut Lotion and it is the best thing ever for my hair. I've wanted to try Qhemet forever though so I placed a Black Friday order (still waiting...) for their most popular products. It will be interesting to compare them because the Alaffia is hands down the best moisturizer i've used so far. Qhemet better werk it!

We love Qhemet in my house. My hair twin (oldest dd) and I use the burdock root. My youngest dd uses the AOHC. I'm so happy to have found a store near me that sells it and they usually have coupons for at least 15% off! When we're out, our hair cries.

Which store in DC has the coupons? I haven't actually been to any of the stores in the area.

Be sure to give us a report when you do your comparison.

I have never heard of this ALAFFIA...
