I personally didn't like how my LF felt on my edges, so I only wore it one time. But I don't know if the story is accurate. And yes, I had moisturized my edges, had on a wig cap, and attempted to minimize friction and tension as much as possible.

Was it the glue that damaged her edges? Some people wear them like wigs without the glue and that seems like it would be no more harmful than a regular wig.

I never had a problem. One reason I think is because I measured it so that it sat in FRONT of my hairline not ON it. Another hint is that I took it off dail I didn't leave it on more than one day. I also made sure not to scratch that area so there wouldn't be friction between my hair and the LF.

Worn LFs since about May and have had no problems *knock on wood*. I have a rather large forehead so I was able to pull the LF a bit further past my hairline so no friction was caused lol.

Yup, after I BC and couldn't wear sew-ins anymore(didn't know about kinky curly hair at the time) I switched to lace wigs. Unfortunately the glue wreaked havoc on my edges and nape. I'm still recovering. They are growing back again but I will NEVER wear another again. I'm done with Lace fronts. I feel sorry for those who don't know because if you use glue continually, the chances are your gonna incur some damage sooner or later.

I never do glue but even with regular wigs the cap of the wig needs to be a bit tight so it will lay right..my edges at one point a touch thin..Im getting away from wigs by Jan bc I don't want ghost edges

Now with the lacefronts, I do not use glue or tape, but I do keep my edges extra moisturized, put my wig cap on, and spray a little moisturizer on the cap as well. Listening to him, I was like dayum, I should be bald by now lolol.

yeah girl, Just make sure you don't have the cap too tight. I've had some friends that lost hair that way as well. I always kinda stretched mine out a little on a mannequin(did i spell that right?) before putting it on

With that routine you should be good. I never did those things when I had mine...probably what added to the breakage

I wore lacefronts last year for like 3 months after I did my big chop by the time I stopped wearing them, my edges were gone and I mean gone! I was so pissed. I remember go to get a weave and I told her to leave the edges out the little that was left and it was just so sad looking, all you saw was scalp. I don't know about lacefronts, I will probably only wear it once in a blue moon but not for long extended period of times.

I can't see the news story about this because I am at work, but when I started wearing lace wigs I just listened to what others had done wrong when applying their lace wigs and I just made sure I didn't repeat them.
I have been wearing these lace wigs for over a year and I have not experienced any hair loss only the opposite, hair growth. I just recently stopped using the adhesives but I used them regularly without any damage to my edges for a whole year.
When women are careless when applying lace wigs with adhesive it will eventually show, but if you do not put glue on your hair or edges it won't get pulled out. If you use the proper adhesive removers it will remove the glue very well. I cannot stand the smell of the citrus remover but it is a must when using adhesives, this is one reason why I am laying off of the adhesives right now, because the remover makes me ill.
I also don't like the BSS lace wigs with that rough, plastic material that they call lace, you can sand down the side of a house with that lace material. I have found that the quality lace wigs made with swiss or french lace can lay nicely on the hairline and not cause harsh friction to the edges.
Right now as I type, I have on an Ozone synthetic wig and I love the cap construction. I have on a black wig cap and I have my edges slicked down my giovanni wax pomade, then I slide the wig cap back about 2 inches and have the lace laying on my forehead in front of my hairline. The only drawback to wearing a lace wig for me has been the sun tan that I have gotten right in front of my hairline which is about 2 shades lighter than the rest of my face, so when I wear my regular hair I feel like I look funny with a light line in front of my hairline, but you can clearly see my hairline.

LF wigs were the reason why I started my healthy hair journey. I had lost all my edges all around, in the front and back. I'm a hairy girl, so I have long thick sideburns and I asked my hair stylist did I need to cut them down. She said no, but that glue cut them down for me, along with my hairline. I hardly had any hair around my edges left and I had worn the LF wigs for less than two months. Smdh....

Those lace fronts are not for ppl who want to retain length, nor for those who want their hair to grow. To me, they work better on ppl who are bald headed like RuPaul and Beyonce and can just throw em on without them affecting their hairline. Idk..just my opinion.

Many women wear lace wigs without losing their hair. If you're going to use adhesives, you have to be very careful with applying them and also when taking them off (this is actually the important part). If you're not a patient person and don't want to spend half an hour taking off a wig then the adhesive method is not for you. Avoid it.

I have never used any glue on my hair and never will. I secure all my wigs either with hair pins or sometimes I sew them down. My edges are fine.
