So, I've learned a big lesson this week: Adding oil to your hair after you straighten will make it revert when it comes in contact with humidity!!!
I did a protein treatment, then followed up with an all-day deep condition with EVOO added to the DC. I then rinsed the DC out to make sure there was no residue left. I used a micro fiber towel to blot out water from my hair until it was damp.
I took very little sections and applied teeny weeny bits of Biosilk Silk Therapy (which I found for £5.99 at TK Maxx - for my Brit ladies) to each section). I layered this with Organix Coconut Milk Anti-Breakage Serum and then blow dried. OMG...this is the first time I got very smooth, non-dry feeling blow-out!. However, I think this has to do with the smaller sections and blow drying from the ends first before making my way up to the roots.
After this, I used my GHD and straightened using the comb chase method. I got a silky smooth press and my hair was SOFT and felt moisturised (thanks to the intensive DC I did). I've been wearing this all week and for my London girls, you know it's rained at least twice, we've woken up to a very foggy and misty mornings. My hair was still holding up and looking silky smooth with bounce and all. Then yesterday, I'm not sure what I was thinking (maybe I was thinking of all the LHCF 'rules'. I took a dime size of olive oil, rubbed it in my palms and applied it to my hair. Well, this morning, I work up and their was the same fog/mist. I stepped out for literally 2 mins and my hair is starting to revert! I'm kicking myself for trying to follow 'rules' which my hair clearly doesn't subscribe too
. I know it's different for everyone but I just thought I'd share my own experience.
