Last week, I tried doing a picked-out afro but over time, parts of the hair would just hang. I know that I'm a course, 4a/b mix but has my hair gotten to a length where I cannot do picked out afros or is it something else?

IDK maybe your hair is "growing" downwards now it can happen. when I had a twa (my 2-4inches)my hair stayed up, now since my hair is out of TWA stage (its 7-8in) it hangs down.

Oh okay, this makes sense. My hair is now past 7 inches and it hangs downward now. Thank you :)

I think you have the answer to your question but just to reassure you; I'm 7.25 inches and my 4a hair won't stand uniformly at all.
