Keep trying! Some things take many, many tries before you get it right on your hair. Thanks for the video.

I liked each set alot. My bantu knots have yet to come out well. I keep trying though, and one of these days I hope it looks as good as yours.

Sparklingflame and exoticmommie....will you please tell us how you accomplished this look? I visited the vid you posted Sparklingflame but it still was a no-go.

I am by no means an expert but all I did was take a medium sized section of hair and start twisting it at the base and as I twisted it I started wrapping te hair around itself. So twist a lil, wrap a lil, twist a lil, wrap a lil until its in a knot.

Thank you! I might give this a try one mo gen.

Also, that video she posted is very helpful as well.
I've watched that vid before and yes, it's very helpful. I've tried bantu knots several times and I always end up with stringy ends and too tight of a wave pattern. How do you keep your ends from being too stringy looking? To combat the too tight wave pattern, I've tried doing fewer knots by parting the hair in 4 sections and doing 4 bantu knots but then I find that I lack wave pattern in the crown area.

The Vaseline set gave the best definition but the Qhemet stuff gave you beach waves! I love Bantu knots & knot outs. I do find that my best sets are done with plain ol water and grease!

Yeah, my ends were a little stringy too. I think the trick is to wrap it around the base as much as you can.

If you don't want the wave pattern to be too tight don't put any holding gels, mousse,or things of that sort. Do it on fully dry hair, and don't re wet it. Just put a nice amount of moisturizer (your best one) on each section before you start twisting. Also, like in the video, don't leave it in for longer than 3-4 hours. I personally leave mine in over night, because I don't care about the shrinkage. And since it's nice and moisturized, I gently pull them apart, and then with a pick, I pick my roots and fluff. To give some volume.

Also, since I don't use any mouse or gels, it does eventually loosen up a bit. So the shrinkage isn't to bad. Also on the very ends. I don't twist it. If I twist my ends, they get frizzy and thin/stringy looking. I just a put a little bit more moisture on the end, and then wrap it under the knot. I get perfect ringlets this way.

I still havent tried to re-do my knots but I plan to tonight. If I want more definition than I did in the first set, but not as much in the second one. Should I just dampen it and not add any other moisturizer or just redo it dry?

IMO, if you want more control over it. IE, more definition, with less frizzies/scragglies, yet you can still fluff and the ends still looks smooth and etc. Don't do it wet or dampen with water. Moisturize your whole head like you normally would, then add a little of your favorite mousse or gel to each section before retwisting. Basically something that will give it a soft and moisturized hold.

I usually do mine overnight...so I will definitely try 3-4 hours next time. I don't mind shrinkage either. I've been twisting the hair down to the very end of the strand, hence the reason for the stringy look. I'm more of a bonelaxed texture and you?

Jacked up??? Girl, you are crazy! One of the best Bantu Knot Outs I've seen. Your hair is just pretty anyways.

Gorgeous! I am sitting with some no-knots in my head right now. I know they are not going to turn out right but I don't want my hair to shrink up since I roller set it and it's humid right now.

I am bonelaxed in the ends, but 75% is not bone straight.

i'ma wait for the jacked up part....cause clearly.... I dont see it yet..all I see is good hair and a great knot out..but i'ma wait..

I like the second one better - more defined. How about using a setting product or a butter the next go around.
