I am by no means an expert but all I did was take a medium sized section of hair and start twisting it at the base and as I twisted it I started wrapping te hair around itself. So twist a lil, wrap a lil, twist a lil, wrap a lil until its in a knot.@Sparklingflame and @Exoticmommie....can you please tell us how you accomplished this look? I visited the vid you posted Sparklingflame but it still was a no-go.
Thank you! I might give this a try one mo gen.I am by no means an expert but all I did was take a medium sized section of hair and start twisting it at the base and as I twisted it I started wrapping te hair around itself. So twist a lil, wrap a lil, twist a lil, wrap a lil until its in a knot.

I've watched that vid before and yes, it's very helpful. I've tried bantu knots several times and I always end up with stringy ends and too tight of a wave pattern. How do you keep your ends from being too stringy looking? To combat the too tight wave pattern, I've tried doing fewer knots by parting the hair in 4 sections and doing 4 bantu knots but then I find that I lack wave pattern in the crown area. Also, that video she posted is very helpful as well.
Yeah, my ends were a little stringy too. I think the trick is to wrap it around the base as much as you can.I've watched that vid before and yes, it's very helpful. I still havent tried to re-do my knots but I plan to tonight. If I want more definition than I did in the first set, but not as much in the second one. Should I just dampen it and not add any other moisturizer or just redo it dry?If you don't want the wave pattern to be too tight don't put any holding gels, mousse,or things of that sort. Do it on fully dry hair, and don't re wet it. Just put a nice amount of moisturizer (your best one) on each section before you start twisting. Also, like in the video, don't leave it in for longer than 3-4 hours. I personally leave mine in over night, because I don't care about the shrinkage. And since it's nice and moisturized, I gently pull them apart, and then with a pick, I pick my roots and fluff. To give some volume.
Also, since I don't use any mouse or gels, it does eventually loosen up a bit. So the shrinkage isn't to bad. Also on the very ends. I don't twist it. If I twist my ends, they get frizzy and thin/stringy looking. I just a put a little bit more moisture on the end, and then wrap it under the knot. I get perfect ringlets this way.

I usually do mine overnight...so I will definitely try 3-4 hours next time. I don't mind shrinkage either. I've been twisting the hair down to the very end of the strand, hence the reason for the stringy look. I'm more of a bonelaxed texture and you?If you don't want the wave pattern to be too tight don't put any holding gels, mousse,or things of that sort. Do it on fully dry hair, and don't re wet it.
