That Steamer is the Truth!! Had my Hair Swinging Like Crazy

Deep Thinker
You all weren't joking when you said steamers were the truth! I just got it recently and used it three times and though MEH :ohwell:... it's not much better than using my heating cap. But this time I used it after my relaxer and boy oh boy, my hair felt like it was the softest EVER. It was so saturated with moisture that it felt like it weighed 5 pounds.:lick: I didn't even want to rinse the conditioner out because it was so bouncy and I wanted to keep the feel of the weight.

I can't remember if I used the ORS pak with it the other times but I know I was using mainly moisturizing DC's but this time I used the ORS pak and it was almost.... can I say....orgasmic the way it felt.

I can tell that this Winter I will be living under my steamer. I still get confused about the cuticle opening/closing thing but I always try to do the final rinse in cool water to trap the moisture in. My hair stayed bouncing and behaving after it dried too. :yep:

I did 30 minutes under it. How do you ladies steam for longer than 30 minutes? Because my water always runs low and the alarm sounds to tell you the water is too low so I have to turn it off. And you can't refill it because the container is too hot.

some have different ones but you'd have to refill the unit and continue steaming:

GLAD you liked your steam session. I love mine ;) you can tell when you use it and when you don't I know I can.

My Timer allows you to set for 1 Hour.

The Water Reservoir lasts 1 hour (maybe longer). 45 minutes is about my max.:yep:

Sometimes after Henna or after Relaxing, I will steam for 1 Full Hour.

I bought the Pro-1037A from lclbeauty.com and used the discount code "exoticmommies" for $10 off. The total was $129.77 shipped.

It has an hour timer and the reservoir holds enough water to steam for an hour or more.

I love steaming, too. I steam for all my treatments. It has revolutionized my haircare routine. The best is steaming my henna for an hour and then deep conditioning afterwards for an hour. No more being tied down for a whole day to do a henna treatment!

The softness and strength of my c-napp hair is unbelievable!

My name is Moodyma'am I am a steam-aholic. Like Pompousblue said, it has revolutionised my haircare.

I had a heatcap for years and my steamer kicks its arse no question.

I steam 1 to 2 times per week.

I've used my steamer at least once a week for the past year. My hair has made wonderful progress during that time; I will definitely be steaming for life ! I usually stop at 30 minutes just because, but during last winter I went for 45-60 minutes every other session, to help keep the hair moisturized in the stupidly brutal winter that was the DMV last year.

I usually use a potholder to remove the hot tank and refill it. Be careful, though! My son was running through the house and we almost collided once.

I like to go longer than 30 minutes just because the steam feels so amazing on my scalp, especially if I use a "tingly" conditioner like Keracare's Dry and Itchy Scalp. I have the steamer that exoticmommie gave us the discount code on. I can't wait for the fall steaming challenge to start!

I threw on my heat cap last week to save time, and the results were NOT the same as using the steamer. My hair didn't feel nearly as moisturized and silky.

I love my steamer. :love3:

hey, i noticed youre in the uk. what steamer are u using?

Steamers are the best, I had no dryness issues and almost no SSKs when I was steaming on the regular and it's way better than the heat cap, I only use the heat cap for 1 or 2 pre-poos it really just doesn't get used much. I've got to get back on that before fall shows up, I was going w/o steaming this summer but I was misting daily and CW 2x week so no dryness issues. I'm looking for a stand alone steamer now still deciding.

i really want a steamer. i'm looking to get one soon. i already know we are going to be lovers! My hair is too ready for the moisture. i love hearing happy steamer stories.

Oh yes my steamer is the heart of my hair care regimen. I've steamed my hair on and off for the last fifteen years or so but I only consistently started doing it when I joined this forum. What a shame, I could have had some banging long hair by now!

Yes if you want to flat iron your hair, using the steamer as your DC is great because it infuses so much moisture into the strand and a good amount of moisture in the hair is the key to a good press imo.

I concur with this Entire Thread. I love the way it assists in the Performance of the Deep Conditioners you are currently using.:lick:

IMO: It causes them to perform even better.

Therefore, If you liked a particular product w/o a Steamer i.e. plastic cap under the dryer, The Steamer just took that product straight to the Next Level.

It has been by far, the best investment, I've made in my HHJ.:yep:

I sit under the steamer 30-45 mins. However, 30 mins is probably all you need. Are you natural or relaxed. I think I have heard a few relaxed heads taking about over doing it on the moisturizer so 30 mis should be good.

Just bought one with code but bought the tap water one. Should I have bought the professional one that use distilled water?

I'm having trouble getting steam to my nape area....do you guys pin your hair up or just lower the height on ur steamer for the area in the back?

Hi BA...

I do both..I pile my hair on top of my heard - clip it and also lower my steamer a little bit. It took me a while to get it just right because it can get hot up under that thing...

i want one... i use a heat cap and would like to upgrade to a steamer... are they expensive?

I should not have come into this thread. I don't need a steamer but I do have alot of dc, and conditioners that could use the extra help. If I find a bargain steamer for sale then I know I wouldn't be able to pass up the deal. that is how i justify my pjism

I have the one fro lcbeauty. I got the cheaper one that uses regular water.

Good idea! Thanks! I was tempted to put a little more over the fill line but I got scared to do that.

I'm relaxed. I do remember reading about overdoing it so I'm going to be careful. Originally I thought I needed 45 mins at least but the 30 mins gave excellent results so I'll stick to that.

I have the cheaper one that uses regular water. I just bought a gallon of distilled water to use in the future since I see a little white stuff starting to show on the metal part though.

Njoy gave me a really good idea of using a hair net. That way you can pull your ends up under it and you'll guaranty that it all gets the moisture. I was being too cheap to pay $5 for the headbands at Sally's so I cut up a hand towel tap wrap around my ears and forehead. Works like a champ!

The one I have is from lcbeauty. It was originally $99 but I paid $89 altogether using the $10 exoticmommies discount. But that was early August and I think the $99 one went up to $119 but the discount code is still good.

Just wanted to add that this is day 3 after my wash/steam session and my hair STILL has some swang to it.:drunk: What I did different from the other steaming sessions was this time I stuck my head WAY up in the unit the whole time and had to look through the top if I wanted to see the TV. Also, what's great about the unit I have is that the neck shrinks waaay down so you can sit on your couch and use it if you do some maneuvering.

Also, be careful about resting your head against the side of the cap. I got popped on my neck with a bit of shooting steam somehow when I did that. :wallbash:
