FOLKS THIS MY THIRD ATTEMPT!!

But i am done now!!:yep:

It is all my Hairdresser's fault of 15 years!!
Contantly burning my hair with no use of protectant! often using cheap and worthless materials on my hair.
The only thing i could say...is that she got my edges down good.
WORST yet, My hair stylist has a bad attitude! cussing out people, has no problem fighting and she has no problem with showing her ghetto side.

ANY tips on the transitioning journey?

I am so sorry you have a bad stylist.....Just keep your hair protected and moisturized...Stick to your current regimen for now. Start implementing updo's and protective styles.

There are so many transitioning threads...I would peruse those for now...But no need to change your reggie for now....Good Luck...We have your back!

Hmmm...sounds like MY old stylist.

I'm only 21 weeks into my transition, and I'm mostly 4b. If your hair type is anything like mine, I say deep condition with a moisturizing DC most of the time, and use a protein leave-in on the relaxed hair (like Aphogee Green Tea spray). I noticed that too much protein on my natural hair makes it extremely hard to comb through. If you have thick hair, washing, conditioning, and detangling in sections helps a lot. Also, try avoiding a lot of manipulation after you're about 10 weeks post unless you plan on being a straightened natural. Hope this helps!

Third times a charm!!

Stick with it. There are so many threads/support/newly natural threads on this site, it's amazing! Def. a wealth of information.

Congrats on your decision, OP. How long do you plan to transition? Patience is the number one advice I can give someone who plans on transitioning...It's not an "easy win" but well worth it in the end!

Good Luck and just like Naturalgyrl stated keep your hair moisturized and protected.. If you plan to wear your hair back into ponytail just be careful not to pull the hair back to tight that will cause breakage also.. I'm into my 8th month.. Only issue I have right now is detangling which I think I may have down pat and keeping the moisture in my Natural hair..

I am transistioning to natural from texlax and I say bunning my hair helps with the two different textures. Also keeping my hair moisturized is helping with my hair not breaking at the demarcation line. The only problem I am having now is with detangling. So I make sure to completey cover my hair with conditioner and finger detangle first before I use my seamless comb. Also I use wheat germ oil mixed with my aussi moist and this stuff is a miracle worker. This makes it so easy for my new growth to lay down when I bun. I don't even have to use a brush!!!!! Congrats on your transisiton.

I would say, light protein like silk are your best friends. My natural and relaxed ends can survive on silk, soy, or wheat proteins.

OK... serious question...

Why the heck would you stay with her for 15 years? Any ONE of those issues would have been enough for me to split!:nono:

I don't see how you dealt with that for 15 years. Once someone burns me with a relaxer they get dismissed in a respectful manner so ya can't fully blame her... By the way not trying to sway you from going natural BUT if it's cause of a bad stylist and you've tried three times maybe the solution in your situation is just a new stylist or becoming a DIYer. But if you really desire natural hair moisture is key and deep conditioning. Always comb from bottom to top, wash hair in sections, be gentle, and get a sulfate free poo and a good comb a goody, a seamless, or a cricket *the little is cheap and works well for me when detangling with no seams* and do all the research you can maybe chicoro's book if you don't already have it if you stay relaxed pick up Healthy Black Hair by Nicole Elizebeth Smith. I love that book and it's mainly for relaxed but I use it monthly
