What will it take to get 1 inch per month?

Last September my hair grew about an inch and a quarter. I was consistently doing a lot of the stuff in this thread.......i.e., it was still super hot (Arizona), I was working out about 5 times a week doing heavy cardio for about an hour, I was drinking TONS of water, about 3 liters a day (unplanned mostly lol), and I took Biotin pills. I was so surprised a couple weeks later because my hair had grown so much it was very noticeable from offhand people, and my stylist was so shocked too.

Hopefully I can get to that again. I've noticed my hair has definitely grown noticeably within the last couple weeks since I've started working out, taking Biotin, drinking water, and summer is coming again. I am, however, this year going to ALSO wet bun (I wasn't last year) and I am increasing my fruits and veggies to 4-5 times a day (like you're supposed to anyway but I very rarely do, lol), so hopefully I will have good growth. If I can get such an amazing result with minimal effort (the only effort I THOUGHT I was making last September was the Biotin pills) I can with much more effort. Hopefully, lol.

Your hair type is determined by genetics just like the rest of your body. Typically your hair is going to mimic either one of your parent's textures or the texture of someone related to you.

Hello all
I hadn't thought of measuring monthly but I think I will when I can claim full shoulder length. Right now my hair is shoulder length in the back across my traps. My sides are just grazing my lower jaw bone. I just got my self back on track and improved some of my habits so next month I'll be bumping this thread to report in. :surf:

I believe I came close to it. My head is kind of tilted, but I did flat iron the section and lo and behold - it was at the 4!!

I've been drinking Diatomaceous Earth everyday for the past 3 weeks :yep:

I don't know if a growth spurt occurred now that it is warmer :look:

In the Summer I dart out to my car to get crack up the AC, and into my job which is always cold. I DO NOT spend any time outside. I tan super fast and heat just makes me nauseous. I'm just going to go with the DE doing its job really well.

Whoa, the sun has that same effect on me! I get nauseous as well. Does that mean we're sick??

bUMPING this thread and updating my on hair...I was stalking this thread and bumping for ideas on how to get an inch a month.I got a sew in so I ould retain what I grew...While I was in the sew in I recieved about(a little under) 1.5 in 5 1/2 weeks....Sorry I dont have pics...
what helped me was it was
*summer-I get more growth from being warm
*applying a homemade growth aid of sulfur and oils and later on mn
*and then working out 4x a week/running for ab out 10-15 min 2x a week...
I got great growth but I was wondering it I would have worked out more maybe I could have recieved two inches...I bought a camera to document my progress So this month I will be definetly taking pics...
working out should def be a new growth aid

I'm currently 3 months post and was able to get around 3" of NG. I think its primarily my cowashing every other day, applying a sulfur based product every time I cowash, shampoo every other week, DC weekly and moisturize daily....plus a lot of prayer lol

I got 1 1/2in in a month.
Its called Braids + Summer heat:lachen:My hair seems to grow really fast in the summer time. My hair grows 1/2in in 20 days(but i usually just say a month) before summer time.

I do not know if i will ever get that 1 1/2in again since i do not measure my hair that much any more(only to see where i am at i.e. APL, BSL, ect), and i dont really wear braids that much either(i should:perplexed).

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR SUCCESS PEARLYCURLY!!!!!

this is the type of inspiration we need!

did you also use any growth aides?

thanks!

Good morning!!

Just checking in. I tried to stretch but only made it 8 weeks and I caved and got a relaxer :wallbash: I think over all I got about and inch and a half of NG and retained most if not all. I didn't straighten it, only sealed it and dried it and now it's back up in my phony-pony. I could definitely tell a difference in my length which made me smile  I didn't take pics since I didn't straighten maybe next time!

HHG!!

^^^i don't think 8 weeks is bad at all!

if you're just starting out with the stretching, i've always read that gradual is better.

i went from having gone 11 weeks at the most to 17 weeks, and wish i had used more prudence because it was way to difficult to work with for me.

now, i will take it gradually like they suggest.

the most important thing is that YOU GOT ALOT OF NEW GROWTH AND ARE RETAINING IT!!! YAH!!!!
so CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Thanks!! My ultimate goal is 12 weeks. I forgot my vitamins at home today so I am at work today freakin! LOL!!

CARDIO!! :yep: trumps everything.

ETA: The increased bloodflow makes whatever else you're using (supplements, essential oils, topical potions) work that much better.

I think eating healthy trumps every thing :giggle: with normal activity (too bad I don't eat right) :lachen:

On the real :look: I am trying though :D

When I was go hard at the gym I didn't notice any increase, some ladies have success. It is all in what your body wants to do. but to me malnurished or when your missing something it comes out in your skin, hair & nails :(

I will say it is possible and it's about finding what it will take for you specifically OP. Some people have saw great improvement through ayurvedi, biotin or msm, a high protein diet, increased exercise. Etc. Just keep experimenting and see what works for you.

Good Morning ladies
Last week I started taking biotin for hair growth but the Hair, Skin and Nails from GNC is that good or should I be taking pure biotin?

^^^^ great question? I'd like to know I just started taking pure Biotin :look: how much is too much biotin as well?

Little to no heat for me, and protective styling.
I am taking a large amount of biotin 8600 mcg and msm 4000 mg too

Biotin and msm are water soluable, whatever your body doesnt use will be excreted..

CHECKING IN...i JUST WANNA SAY RUNNING AND THE SUMMER HEAT IS THE TRUTH! I went from two inches past sl to touching apl in 6 weeks!!...I run and worked out about 3-4x a week for an hour to an hour and 15 min.I apllied my homemade sulfur oil every other day. I drink a lot of water and I am always hot! The heat was defintely making me sweat like when I worked out.My hair has never grew and retained this much ever...I hope to pass apl by the summers end...go run girls your hair and skin will benefit!
