Relaxed, 4B
I've been on my journey for about 2 months:blush: I've got my regimen down and technique for the most part. My hair has shown great progress and I'm very confident that I'll see my goals achieved....so when do I stop considering myself a newbie and then what do I call myself?:perplexed

I think you are no longer a newbie when:
- you are not checking the hairboard umpteen times/day :look:
- When your product stash has been limited to your top 20 products (okay 50, but you get the point) :lachen:
- When your SO/DH/mom/whoever is not saying "are you on that hair board again?" :perplexed
- You can start a conversation with something other than "guess what I learned today?" or "OMG, I just got ordered . . ." :look:

But most importantly and seriously,
- When you can look at your hair, see a problem, diagnose it, AND correct it without doubting yourself.
- When you can look at the ingredients on the latest wave of products and know if they will work for your hair.
- When your hair is healthy, from root to end

Good Luck

Clearly it will be a while:) On that list only the quantity of products do I pass:(

I agree with this. You're not a newbie anymore if you can fix your own problems without making a thread that's already been answered 50 billion times.

I check all day long...#Fail

Ok, my stash has under 15 products

No such luck

I can do this...check

I'm definitely here...it's always a protein problem
- When you can look at the ingredients on the latest wave of products and know if they will work for your hair.
I'm not taking any chances with new products unless my staples are discontinued. :nono:
- When your hair is healthy, from root to end
Working on it. One more trim should do it
Good Luck

Very nice list...I think I can lose my newbie status although I still have newbie tendencies.

You NEVER stop being a newbie till you have glistening shoulder length, bra-strap length, mid-back length or waistlength hair and people are stalking you like drooling zombies over your lusciousness.

Yup, nodding, take a seat honey you gon' be here for a while.

Just kidding! You stop being a newbie in my opinion when your hair problems start narrowing further and further down and you know just what to do when for what your hair needs. Yup!

:lachen::lachen::lachen:this was me last month. I will consider myself a newbie until I achieve BSL hair. I have to prove myself in order to not be a newbie. Thats how I see it.

I declare myself no longer a newbie:grin:

When you are doing more teaching than learning....and everything else everyone stated.

I'm still a newbie. Still have newbie tendencies also like @chasturner84. I embrace it. My newbieness keeps the website fresh and exciting (for me). Seems like the website loses its appeal (to some, not all) when they lose their newbie status. I hope LHCF doesn't lose its appeal to me when I become the teacher rather than the student.

In my humble opinion, I think that you stop being a newbie when:

- You stop buying every product under the sun
- Your regimen is so simple its almost non-existent LOL I like to keep it simple now
- You are enjoying your hair and not obsessing over length
- You have a regimen and you don't feel the need to change it

I'd say it took me about 3 years to get to this point.

IMO, I feel like a person is a newbie when they're still trying to figure out their regimen and what their hair likes/dislikes. I honestly don't feel like a newbie anymore because I've been on my HHJ since May 2009, have my staples/regimen pretty much set and understand my hair.

I used to think I knew my hair, when I was relaxed. Knew what I needed and when. It's funny how much you learn from being on this site and how little you learn sitting in a chair at the beauty salon!

I think one other thing to add is when you stop subscribing to every thread under the sun <---currently guilty.

When you stop trying to copy and paste useful information into a word document or write it all down in a notebook.

I luv luv luv this forum. Don't know how I made it without it.

Newbie for the next 2 years at least!!!
