Hey ladies,

Has anyone besides myself, experience thinning on the edges & hair line due to wogs with combs...If so what have you done & is there a way to still wear the wig without the comb...need serious hair advice...Thx!!!

I have. It's because of that I started using OCT on my edges. I used it to lay my hair down for buns and it grew in thicker. As for the combs on the wig, I purposely leave braid my hair behind what was thinning and put the combs in the thicker braid. Of course, that works best if you're wearing your hair down. No heat needed. HTH.

yep I had an allergic reaction to them and they messed up my hairline but it was the clip and the stocking cap so I take a durag and tuck the flap that hangs inside and then I slide the front comb under one of the durag strings for the front so it stays on and never touches my skin or hairline.

I take the combs out, infact that's the first thing I do when I get a new wig, get rid of the comb. I tape down my LF wigs so the extra support from the comb is not needed.

Hello all,

I thought it was me too. I'm giving my hair a break for about month and a half from sew-ins. The comb that's in the back IS really irritating, I've been thinking about cutting it out.

How do you keep the wigs from moving? I don't wear wigs often so I guess that is a reason why I don't have issues with thinning witht the combs, but I can't wear it w/o the comes or the stretch band (not sure what it's called) in the back of some wigs or else it shifts and slides down my head.

They were causing the front and back of my hair to this at a certain spot. So I cut out the combs, and secure the halfwig with 4 or 5 bobby pins, and it stays put

I take those bad boys out! I find they are way too pulling on my hair. I secure with 6 bobby pins and it.does.not.move. I also change the position of the pins every few days to avoid potential thinning from the pins :yep:

I do the same. I also rotate the pattern that I braid my hair in underneath the wigs.

I remove the comb from the back of my half wigs.It was just to irritating. The one in the front does not bother me. I secure the front comb under my plaits or braids. It gives me a snugg hold, so I know my wig will stay put.I don't leave any hair out and my plaits do not start close to my edges.I cover with a head band and I'm good to go. So far I have not had any problems with thinning or breakage.

Has the OCT been working for you?

I took the combs out of my wigs which I think everyone should do. BUT I did get a thin spot at my temple because I used bobby clips and I was using a clip on the same spot for like 6 months. I'm really hoping it grows back.

I think the best thing is to use bobby pins/clips but change the position of the pins. I think the less you wear the wig, the less you have to worry about your hairline getting thin. I should have only worn the wig occasionally. Just my two cents.

The OCT worked wonders. I concentrated it heavily only on the edges in the front and the back. It grew in well. I have noticed that texture of the new growth is different from the rest, but I can live with it as long as it grows.

I've always been a stickler about giving my hair at least a week or two of freedom from anything I've been using - braids, wigs, weaves. It's helped me maintain my edges rather well so far.

These are great tips...the comb attachments kill my scalp and hairline..I can only wear a wig for a week for this reason....I will def take the combs out and use bobby pins...

1+

Also I noticed tension around my edges whenever I wore the wig cap so I ditched it and use a durag instead. I also wear the "comfort grip" or "cushion strip" (not sure of the exact name) and noticed less tension/more comfort as well.

Those wig combs tore my hair up! I just stop wigs all together. I may try the bobby pin idea if I get brave enough to try again.
