your #1 hair issue?!!!

I'm midback and I still am not good at detangling my hair and handling it gently, so I get breakage that could have been avoided with less/gentler manipulation.

Now that I've reach "almost WL" my #1 hair issue is DETANGLING.

It took me over an hour to detangle and I was so furious I wanted to chop my hair off right there and then. On top of that, I heard more snapping then anyone would believe. I'm SCARED of how many inches i may have to lose when i get a trim next month.

I just don't get it. The wide tooth comb misses most of the knots, but anything smaller, or even a denmen doesn't make it through at all!!
girl i know this is a broken record.... but how did trying washing & CONDITIONING in twists work for you???? that has to solve your issue!

I really don't want you to lose hair at that length!

Now that some of my hair has reached BSL my #1 problem is single strand knots. I would like my other 12 strands to catch up by Dec so I'm moisturizing them like mad (and using conditioner when I twist).

my biggest problem are dry ends that wont lay down so when i straighten my hair it looks a hot mess
i can think of tons of reasons this could be
but the easy answer is to ask if you've tried kimmay's leave in?

so many ladies say that solved the problems with their ends? also may hot oiling them (dip ends in near boiling coconut oil)

Now that I'm actually trying to learn to take care of my hair my issues are: ssks, split ends, dryness, breakage, learning how to care for my hair, accepting my hair, tangling, shedding, finding a regimen and all the frustration that this causes. I have been on the hair boards for a few months and have bought a few books, but I am still not getting the results that I want.

You know what. I don't know how to do twists. (don't laugh lol)... but i know a few people detangle while in braids. I'm thinking of trying that. All this time I've been ok with washing/conditioning all together and seperating the hair into a few sections. Maybe at this length that won't be enough!

Now that I'm APL, I'm really concerned about how dry my crown is. It's just so ready to break off at any moment!!

:yep: This is my main issue. I have to keep this area almost saturated with leave in cond. and oil. If I'm not careful, it becomes almost crunchy..:ohwell:

The second thing would be detangling

My length: Below APL

My issue: Detangling with SSK, shedding, and split ends! :wallbash: My hair is different lengths all over because of this. Luckily, my hair is naturally pretty thick so it isn't that noticeable. :nono:

My major issue at this time is:

Uneven length.

My hair is retaining a good half inch per month.

but the nape is right above APL. The sides are 2 inches above APL. The hair from my crown only falls to my chin. 50 million layers.

I have to be patient while this grows out and evens up

Girl, you and me both. Those are my lengths too!!!! :lachen:

Length: Between APL and BSL

#1 issue: retaining length. My hair GROWS, but it's hard for me to retain length unless I'm actively taking care of my hair.

Now that I've reached The "awkward stage" in my journey), my #1 hair issue (or issues) are...

1. Not enough styling options!! :wallbash:
2. Can't keep wearing my favorite style, the fluffed out afro puff, due to f*%@-ing SSKs!!! :wallbash:
3. Can't do twists yet cause they look stupid on me! :wallbash:
4. I am now forced to wear shrunken, curly WGNs everyday in order to reduce manipulation, knots and increase length retention. :wallbash:

I guess it's not as bad as I make it out to be though. If I wasn't so lazy, I could work on more styles, and if I wasn't so determined NOT to wear any kind of wigs, extensions or weaves, I really could have more styling options.

*Le Sigh*

I guess for now I'll just keep rocking my WNG's. I'm hoping to have more length to work with within the next few months so I guess I'll just have to wait.

Length: MBL
#1 issue: tangles after washing hair! I really need to get on top of these! I'm currently still transitioning.

SSKs :gunner7:

I'm getting better with wearing twistouts, braidouts, and stretching out my hair..but every now and then, I miss the look of a wash n go....

Now that I've reached "shoulder" length (or a healthy stage in my journey), my #1 hair issue (or issues) are thin ends and scalp build up?

waiting on my aloe vera juice in the mail
if this doesnt work ill try the hot oil thing, thanks!!

Now that I've reached close to APL length (or stage in my journey), my #1 hair issue (or issues) are my length has kind of outpaced my styling skills. This is 80% of the reason I'm still bunning I just don't really know what else to do. And my hair is still at a bit of an awkward length so I'm trying to expand my horizons some. I did not see this becoming an issue but here I am.

Girl, can I confess I can hardly flat twist? I haven't mastered twist outs yet. I've only tried it a few times and wound up with a tangled hot mess. I plan on trying again though. But I'm off to youtube to watch some tutorials :D

My hair has never been so healthy, but now I have realized My nape grows so slow and is the reason my hair looks so thin from the back.

you've used porosity control before? i hear others love it

aloe vera juice at the grocery store.... and walgreens, cvs

i got a free visa gifft card for online purchases only so i just bought it online. and yes iv used porosity control and it didnt really do anything for me :perplexed

i haven't really reached a particular goal in my hair journey because i dont necessarily have one, but my number one problem is shedding it sheds to the point where i can only run my fingers through my hair on wash day! if on any other day my hair seems to be in the sink and tub rather than on my head!

Now that I've reached "__Waist____" length (or stage in my journey), my #1 hair issue (or issues) are ___dealing with the layers in my hair to get it one length:)____?

Now that I've reached "shoulder" length, my #1 hair issue is figuring out this protective style thing to keep my hair off of my clothes.:ohwell:

Now that I've reached "_BSL__" length (or stage in my journey), my #1 hair issue (or issues) are _hair thats not thick enough______?

I am starting to love my length, but not the thickness, I need to find something to get me some great thickness to my hair, and I think I know what to buy and how to bump my hair for more body and fuller look until my hair's layers grow out :wallbash:
