Now my eyes hurt.

Who can expect to get rid of all split ends with a trim? I mean the trims from a salon.

I'm seeing some scary things here ya'll. Some sections of the strand so damaged/ripped or frayed that it looks blonde. Splits so bad that you would think they got their own follicle. I'm surprised they hung around so long. Strands so thick, I wasn't sure if the strand belonged on my head and never mind the eyelashes....

How can it be so bad when I don't even flat iron but blow dry like 3 times this year to date?

I can't wait to get a good 2-3 inches OFF. I'll be back at MBL no problem (not that I'm so far away from it anyway).

I do search and destorys at random but I know what you are talking about...I use more heat than you. I have since cut back since it's summer time but I still get shocked when I see how long how many I've cut. :perplexed:ohwell:

Does not look like you lost alot of hair. You are doing a good job.

Girl, I could never remove ALL the splits in my hair in one sitting. My eyes would leave my head! Those were from maybe 3-4 twists and I gave up on them there's just wayyyyyyyy too many. All the lil' white tips are so tempting though.

I feeeelllll you on this post!!! I only use heat 4/5 times in a given year.. I air dry and moisturize regularly and stilll I have nasty monstrous splits.... I suppose they have always been there, but I just knew that with all my healthy hair care method this problem would disappear.

Also I need some advice from you......

I must say the more I read you post the more your hair seems like mines....this gives me hope... cuz im between APL and BSL now and im scared my hair will never grow long because of splits, but ur proff positive that this is not the case.

So I do have a question Fine4s. since you have fine strands, like I do.... Do you experience little broken hairs when styling. it seems like when I wash, style or even detangle I never can avoid snapping one or two hairs. majority are shed hair (I know cuz I look at them individually) I know I seem paranoid but im just worried that this will accumulate over time. Does this happen to you? and can you offer any suggestions for a fellow fine haired sista?

I thought you did your whole head and by your siggy picture I see why you stopped. I never search for splits because it is too much work. I just trim my hair.

What do you think causes all of the splits?

Hey PYT,
You know, I'm not sure. I suspect it might be the old pre LCHF hair leftovers? I'd hate to think it's something I'm doing now that's contributing to it but hey....Also, my stylist tends not to cut a lot off during trim but at my 2nd annual trim, he'll have to step it up and give me at least 2'' off!

Hey fine haired sista!
I alway have broken hairs when I style and when I wash my hair. No amount of protein treatment has been able to stop it completely. However, I still maintain length so, I just ignore it. Maybe it's because of the splits IDK. But I keep an eye on it. That is why I do regular protein treatments (I only started doing this in 2010) to keep the breakage under control. I will say this, I need to straighten my hair to get a better look of whether the breakage is serious or not (basically look for see-through areas). Sorry I don't have any miracle answers but I HTH...even if a lil' :)

Thank you for answering!! and yes your answer did help some... I dont need a miracle I just needed hope and you gave me that. the bolded is soooo me and I want to ignore it but I am always looking ahead and I wondered if I was gonna suffer later.

I think I may be okay after all :lachen:

Girl I have this problem and all I can say for me is it must be the flat ironing. I do wash, dc, and flat iron once a week or bi weekly and I braid out and roller set the other weeks.

I just had 2 inches trimmed a few months ago, but they are back. I knew all the splits werent gone when I had the trim and now I dont wanna cut until I get passed my goal length. I try search and destroy, but like you I have to much hair for that so I cut the ones that look the worse.
