I love hair grease on my ends and all over my hair and I sometimes grease my scalp when I want to. I only wear protective hair styles because they are easy. I don't take progress pictures of my hair. I go to sleep many nights without my satin scarf and I always caught my husband playing in my hair at night when I don't wear it.

I wear Celie braids in public and I don't give a **** ... now run and tell dat :lachen:

:lachen::lachen::lachen:I do too! When I was in the dorms my friends would tease me everyday! Now I try to pull them in a pony when I go out but one braid always creeps out and acts as my bang. Oddly enough, white people LOVE my little 4 braids lol very weird! Black folks think I'ma fool:lachen:

I never, ever put my hair up at night
I still get hard presses
I don't shy away from mineral oils and cones
I love Pantene

I do.
I use dollar store shampoo
I use baking soda mixed with dollar store con on occasion.
I have relaxed and hennaed on the same day and if I relax again I'll keep doing it.
I don't DC w/heat when it's too warm in my apartment or if I just don't feel like it.
I use a mix of stuff to DC

I think that's all.

I HATE hair grease. But i dont hate it because every body says its bad for your hair, but because my hair hates it! My mom use to grease my scalp constantly when i was little and it just weight my hair down terribly!

But anyway i do not protect my hair while i am sleeping, i probably never will unless i style my hair.
I style my hair while it is very wet.

Theres probably more things, but i cant think right now:drunk::spinning::nono:

Erm, I touch my hair a lot. An awful lot. I think I've read that it's not good to be touching your hair unnecessarily (because of breakage or something), but I really can't help it. I just love the lovely texture of my wonderful tiny curls and coils, I just can't get enough . I'll just sit down on my sofa watching TV or browsing the internet, and I'll have my hands all up in there feeling around and gently stretching out the curls. Plus, it's a good excuse to test whether my hair is still moisturised, has gone dry, or is dirty/greasy and needs a wash :yep:

I have HIH disease and I can't stop it...
My hair loves mineral oil...
I pull my buns tight...Hey, I have a LOT of NG and I have to flatten it!

I scratch my scalp with my fingernails. :look: If I'm being good, I'll get a comb and do it.

I love to comb my hair multiple times per day.

I forgot one! I don't tie my hair up at night or wear a bonnet.... I almost never do. I braid my hair and go to sleep. I do sleep on satin pillowcases though.

I love this thread. This whole time I thought I was the only one doing the Gawd-forbidden.

Ladies I think that you should keep doing what you are doing if it is working and you are retaining length. I seem to be doing all the things right and my hair is still gets tangled and breaks alot. The growth aides are working for me though. I am 3 weeks post and I already have an inch of new growth. I swear I am going to start putting grease on my hair again!. I keep telling myself no but as long as I don't put it on my scalp then I don't see what the problem is. I am going to moistuize and seal in with grease on my ends.

Good for all of you!

I'm a newbie so I came to LHCF with bad hair habits, so when I read the WHAT NOT TO DO threads, I felt / feel really bad b.c I'm usually doing what I "shouldn't" be doing. :look:

I go to the salon, I use heat weekly w/out heat protectant and I always wore my hair down (haven't worn protective styles since middle school). :spank:

Since I have been on LHCF, I now pin-curl my hair and I'm working on bunning and have significantly cut back on heat and now I use a heat protectant. However, I'm still a frequent visitor to the Dominicans. :yep:

Oh I forgot to mention:

I still love Pump It Up spritz to prevent frizzy buns or rod sets in humid weather. Please don't shoot!

I don't wash my hair in sections. It takes too long, so the water is cold when I finish.

I don't use oil to seal my hair. I use cone filled serum to seal my ends.

I'm not a hair product ingredient nazi. Either a hair product works on my hair or doesn't. Therefore, I don't turn my nose up to products with mineral oil, etc.

I flucks with Pump It Up (The Gold formula one) for my flat twists. Girl I guess we getting shot together lol!

I also don't wash my hair in sections

I comb on dry hair

I hate finger combing

Yup! I clarify every time I wash my hair :hide:

My hair gets buildup pretty quickly so if I don't clarify, it'll remain dry and dull untill I do.

That's it! My protective styles would last 2 weeks with that stuff. I didn't give a damn if it made my hair crunchy, my hair retained some serious length. I guess if we goin' in, we goin' in hard :lachen:lmao.

my hair AND scalp LOVEEEEEEEE pink oil. When ever I need to whip my hair into shape, NOTHING works as fast as pink oil. YES! I said it! LOL.

I use a brush on wet and dry hair
I detangle dry hair
I really love Pink Lotion!(haven't used it since starting my HHJ though)
I detangle from root to tip sometimes
I don't always seal

Wow, I had no idea some of this stuff was even considered detrimental for hair growth or length retention..lol.

Lately Ive been in permanent baggy mode.:look: My hair stays wet/moisturized 24/7.... No moisture overload, fungus, or sour smelling hair.:nono:

I clarify at nearly every wash
I use shampoo on my hair, not just my scalp
I just started using grease on my ends
I am not afraid of dusting/trimming. I will not forsake healthy hair for long hair. Sometimes, those ends just need to GO.
Also, I blowdry weekly on high/cool with the comb attachment.

I am sure I have a few things I do to my hair that are not hairboard approved. But they are approved by my hair so I am okay with it! :yep:

1. I use weekly protein
2. Use shampoo with sulfates in it to clean hair TWICE a week...and my head lurves me for it
3. I use a small tooth comb, especially during weeks 1-5 post relaxer....LOVE the way it feels on my scalp & in my hair
4. Manipulate my hair daily (rolling on flexi rods, combing, etc.) at 15 weeks post and beyond...
5. Use a boar bristle brush on WET (gasp) edges to help slick them back before tying on scarf
thats about it...
