Hey ladies, of course i am a big lurker but i desperately need to know "wat would u do" if you were in my situation.

1st - Ive been transitioning for 2years, but the front grew very much slower than the back, and my whole left side has little to no curl pattern (heat dammage? idk)

2nd - Ive gotten my hair cut once(Feb. 2010) to even it out a bit. By this month (July 2010) it grew back a bit, but the front still had permed ends I wanted to get rid of, and I also wanted it to be shaped.

3rd - I went to get it cut yesterday.

Problem - of course IMO she cut too much(but thats partially my fault), she cut my hair to were the different textures blended to the same length in its natural state, i straighten my hair today to see the length difference and I almost died. and I hate the shape (longer at the front/cut too much at the back) and not too fond of texture on the left side.

If you were me,

Would you go back and get you hair cut even or just let it grow out?

If you think this shape is not wassup, would you cut it to a better shape, or let it grow out?

It looks really good curled up in the last two pics and your curly texture is pretty too. I would just leave it the way it is and grow it out from there.

If I were you, I wouldn't get any more cut. It's super cute curled (cute outfit BTW!) and you can just wear it up when it's curly if you are not happy with the length or the way it hangs.

Thanks ladies!, yea I felt a little better once I curled it but Im not sure if heat is contributing to the texture on my left side, so Im trying to refrain from it, I did pretty good this summer I only flat ironed twice (which includes today). I guess i should play with some styles i feel comfortable with and restart my growing process.

It looks like she did a good job on the cut to me. It looks really nice curly. It you want to wear it like the last two pictures you can always rollerset your hair. Just let it grow out and don't cut anymore.

Hey there!

Can I ask you how you transitioned for two years? What did you do? I want to transition for two years as well but I'm not sure if that's a great idea.

BTW, I think your hair cut is not that bad. The way you have it curled is gorgeous.

It looks really pretty how it's styled now, so I wouldn't cut it.
I'm pretty sure the texture difference is heat damage, I had the same thing after I got my hair straightened by a stylist during my transition..
I cut the completely straight bits off since, they made my WnG look ridiculous, but decided to let the loosened bits grow out. I guess you should decide on how you plan to wear your hair from now on.

Congrats on your BC, I think your stylist did a great job.

Your hair looks pretty.
I wouldn't cut it anymore. I would let it grow more and then reshape or do gradual trims later. You can do simple puffs or buns in the mean time. Plus you already know that you hair looks great curled and you try roller setting to reduce heat damage.

I think it's gorgeous! I agree with the others, don't get any more cut off. Just let it grow and then maybe get it shaped into a style you like.

Keep the hair cut and let it grow out. You hair looks GOOD!

What side do you start flat ironing? The flat iron could have been hotter with that first section and cooled off on other sections because you've used it and it transferred some of it's heat.

I can't see the pic, but like everyone else said I wouldn't cut anymore. For some reason my natural hair seemed a lot better after a couple of months. When I first cut it seemed stringy on some of the ends, now those same ends curl up...and I haven't cut or anything. It might be time you started experiening with different products to curl your hair and give it slip.

I think its beautiful the way you have it curled. I would just let it grow out.

Co-signing! Your hair looks beautiful to me!

I wouldn't cut it again. Give it a few months to grow out more and then go somewhere else for an even cut.

I have 2 textures on my hair and a wet/curly cut will never do. I think you should let them blow out your hair and then trim it, that's just my opinion.

prob. heat damage. i BCed and my front edges have
no curl pattern un-like the rest of my hair. i transitioned
with weaves so i had to blend my hair and the straight
weave, so heat was my only option and it kinda
messed with my curls. i wouldn't cut it though. try curl
activators before you do anything drastic:

Care Free Curls Gold or S-Curl, works for me.

She definitely cut too much off the back but thank goodness it looks so pretty curled. I would definitely wait (maybe at least 6 months) before cutting again. And find someone who's on the same wavelength as you and that you can trust. Good luck and congrats on your bc. Keep us updated on your progress. Also, the different textures could be heat damage or it could just be how it is, only time will tell.

hey!
faithful protective styling did it for me. I cowashed about 2 times a wk and wore wet buns, twist outs or perm rod sets. I also use oils and powders bougt from a local indian store. Some days I may have looked a mess lol but I didn't care because I'm in one bldg all day.
