Hey ladies! Ok so I've had my hair in PS for about 7 months....my PS of choice has been full sewn in weaves. I havent had my hair out at all during over the course of the last 7 months....and the anticipation of how much growth I had gotten is killing meeee!:wallbash: I have had this last sew in since the beginning of may...i found that my hair grows the most when i leave my sewn-in for about 4 months. IDK why...it just does. I told myself that I wouldnt take it out until I finished my 30 day supply of hair vitamins from gnc....im about two weeks into my bottle and the urge to take out my sew in is killing meeee! :perplexed

**OH YEAH**
....i gotta question....I have been stretching also for 7 months and instead of relaxing I was thinking about getting my hair blown out from the dominican salon. Do you think that the heat will be too much for my hair? If I do decide to get it should I do anything before I go? (i.e.- any type of treatments) I didnt want to relax because it makes my hair so thin and Im going for the thicker look...

Before getting your blown out make sure to do a protein and moisturizing deep conditioning treatment b/c those blowdryers are killers.

OMG Im right there with you I've had my sew-in in since May 14th and im low key dying to see my hair and its progress. but I made a deal with myself that if I keep it in until Sep 1st which would make 16wks in my install, then i would award myself with purchasing a steamer. LoL i had to bribe myself to keep my install in. haha So im trying to be strong. a lil over 5wks to go for me.

Stay strong you only have a couple weeks left.

Thanks hunny! Do you think that it may be too soon to have so much heat on my hair? My hair is cornrowed with added hair & the weave is sewn onto a net so my hair should be pretty healthy. Plus I keep it moisturized. I dont really want to get it blown out but i dont know another option....

Isnt it hard??? I wish I could take a sneak peak!!! I know I have some good growth cause I can feel atleast 2 inches of NG since the last one. I just wanna see where those 2+ inches, plus the previous growth from my first sew-in get me...lol. Im praying for full SL!. stay strong hun...i kno ima try...:perplexed

I would do the works. remove all shed hair. prepoo. clarify. And whatever you do definitely to a good DC when you take your hair down. I usually wait a couple days before I flat iron after I've taken down an install, but not because I think its too soon, just because I dont really feel like flat ironing right away. but I think it should be fine.

LUCKY!! I feel like im not getting a lot of growth for some reason some places on my head feel like 1" of growth while others only feel like maybe 1/2" of growth. thats all bad. but thats another reason that im still able to keep it in, because im thinking "why take it out early when im gonna be disappointed with barely any growth"(thats directed at the areas with only 1/2" of growth in 10wks grrrr!!) lol

well actually this little growth spurt just started happening when I started taking my GNC skin, nail, and hair vitamins. I noticed a good amount of growth in about 2 weeks. Ive been slacking for like the last 3 days tho :perplexed. Are you taking any type of hair supplements?

Nope not taking any supplements. I just started using my mt/mn mixture last week. Maybe I should try the GNC vitamins I've heard good things about those.

I have a suggestion, do you know how to flat iron or do a rollerset and then flat iron the roots to avoid the blow out. Or do you have a really good friend that could flat iron your hair for you? I know nothing about dominican blow outs so I cannot help you with that.

I wanna see your hair too! I love seeing progress pictures!

I wouldn't put so much heat on your hair right away. You don't want to lose everything you've worked for. Those blow outs use A LOT of heat so you don't want to cause damage your curl pattern and cause damage.

Maybe you should use a really good heat protectant and flat iron your hair. You can get it just as straight and with swang without as much heat.

Ok...im going to try that first. I want to texlax but I dont know if the stylist would even know what that is or how to do it. Hm..

I like the worn off relaxer look after a month, during the first month I love getting my doobies with no blow drying my roots. After about 4-6 weeks You could go back up into braids :)

Make sure you thoroughly explain it to the stylist before he/she does it.

You can do it yourself at home. Or practice with an aplpication brush and some deep conditioner until you become comfortable doing it yourself.

Ive always self relaxed but that was before this site. Now that im hair educated I am terrified to relax myself. I never pay attention to not relaxing my previous relaxed hair, plus, i dont think id be able to see it. So im going to waste some money and get it done by a pro. :yep: But before I do that im going to experiment with flat ironing...i see naturals getting their hair super straight and gorgeous so i can too!....right?:look:
