I try to stretch as close to 12 weeks as possible....my only concern would be if the large tub would expire......

Those are two different types of Affirm - the larger one is lye and the individual ones are no-lye...Affirm does not carry a large size of the no lye...

The large tub (lye) will last a little over a year.... when the no-lye is mixed - any left over needs to be disposed

I bought a 4lb tub like that in November 2009 not Affirm but another brand. I have two more applications in it. So I would say it will take me 1 year to use it all up. Since you relax every 12 weeks it may take you 1-1/2 to 2 years to use it up.You can also calculate how many ounces you would use in one application and see exactly how many applications are in that large tub, calculate how many applications you'll use in 1 year to get an accurate account on how long it will last.

Are you aware that these(pictured) are two different relaxer formulas? If so then please disregard the rest:

The large tub is a lye relaxer and the one pictured is fiberguard lye which purposely underprocesses the hair(never gets bone straight). The smaller tubs are the no lye sensitive scalp formula.

That information could be handy when making a relaxer choice. A good rule of thumb with Affirm relaxers are the lye relaxers are found in large tubs only. The no-lye relaxers are found in the small"individual" tubs and come with a separate activator.HTH

It looks like the picture shows Affirm Fiberguard Lye Relaxer and Affirm Sensitive Scalp No-Lye (regular system). If you don't care whether you're using lye or no-lye, I will tell you this. the fiberguard system (which comes in either lye and no-lye) doesn't seem to get hair bone straight [best for texlaxing, IMO]. However, the regular Affirm formula, which also comes in lye and no-lye(sensitive scalp version), might be better at getting the hair bone straight.

Currently, I have the Affirm Fiberguard No-lye (sensitive scalp), i.e. small containers and I have yet to get bone straight results. Once I'm done with this one I'll be venturing to the regular formula of Affirm No-lye (sensitive scalp).

I only buy the same tub of lye relaxer(motions) because I relax my hair every six months or so. I prefer having fresh relaxer everytime I do it. But since you relax more than me the big tub may be better and more cost effective. Just keep in mind it is only good to keep a lye relaxer for a year.
