GREAT VID!
i hate that i wore so much weave in my past... it too was a vicious cycle
my hair definitely looked better than the... yet was damaged by the weave/MOSTLY BRAIDS .... yet to cover my damaged hair I had to get more weaves!!!! (again chronic micro braid wearer)
People thought I was bald... but I was back then insecure about the thinning hair (from braids) so I would never take it down
ridiculous
I started a similar thread a few days ago.
Since gong natural earlier this year, I have essentially sworn off all forms of weave and extensions. Much like you, I spent many years addicted to weaves, half-wigs and to a lesser extent, braid extensions. Now don't get me wrong, I don't think that weaves are necessarily a bad styling option, I just feel that when you have spent the vast majority of your life addicted to them as I have, even to the point of valuing them above your own hair, something needs to change.
And for those of us who have and are making these changes, I think its good that we are developing a healthier, more positive relationship with our own hair. Yours looks like its doing very well so keep up the good work!![]()
I used to wear phony pony for PS and after awhile it did become additive I didn't want to show my own hair because the PS was so much bigger than my own. I did it for a year wearing the phony pony and after I stopped working I just used my own hair in a tucked up ponytail. I am not going back to those phony tail.
Thanks for sharing and I am sorry for your lost of your mother especially at such a tender age. HHJ.
